Husqvarna 5743876-01 Wood Tongs

There are 2 sizes available. The small ones are not worth much but the larger pair is excellent. I wonder how I ever got by without these. Although they are listed at 12" I've picked up logs up to 24" in diameter. Naturally the rougher the bark the better the grip.For me what makes them the greatest is that it saves me from having to bend over to pick up the wood. That alone is a back saver. In addition, whatever you pick up just seems lighter when using these.There are several other types on the market and I've been blessed to be able to try several of them as we have get-togethers for cutting firewood. Some at first look as they would possibly be better but I have not found any of them to be as good.Watch the prices. Sometimes they discount a lot and that is the time to buy.

I love this tool. High quality materials and construction, nicely balanced and the pivot points all work well. Makes carrying logs much easier. Angle and points of tongs are just right to readily grasp log and log releases easily with a gentle push down. I liked it so well I bought a second one. I had a cheap knock-off log tong I bought a few years ago but it never worked very well and I quit using it. This one was a bit pricey but I use it all the time and it reduces a lost of wear and tear on my arm.

Makes moving wood rounds easy. I have two sizes and there is a bit of overlap in the range, so I often use one in each hand. Great for moving rounds to the splitting area and putting them up on the splitting log or splitter. Much better than the other green-handled brand, the handles on this one don't fall off and the mechanisms are better made and don't wobble and stick.

I have the smaller ones and 2 of the 12 inch. i would not recommend the small pair but highly recommend getting 2 of the 12 inch models. They are awesome and will last a life time.

If you split a lot of wood by hand, and know what its like to lose your grip after the first hour or so, then you would like/need this tool. I was able to pickup the logs to be split just by pushing the jaws over the log, and like any timber carrier, as I picked it up, it grabbed the log and I had an easy walk to the splitting stump, and work it easily into place. This tool has tight joints at it's pivot points, which means it is made to last. I had gone to a tool outlet looking for this and a big timber carrier, and the price of this same carrier was more than double. Husqvarna is a good name in tools, and especially logging tools so when I found this I jumped on it. I tried 1 other in the same store, and the joints were too loose for me to think they would last through my, and who ever else is going to use it long days of splitting wood by hand.

Excellent tool ! Well worth the money. I had to sharpen the tong points a little as most of the wood I'm moving this winter is smooth bark poplar that is hard frozen. This 12" tong doesn't work very well on smaller than 5" diameter wood. So if you have a good amount of small wood you may want the 8" size.

The metal is rough cut and there are sharp edges on the unit. That sliced the side of my hand removing skin, but just a big scratch really. That doesn’t make me very happy for the cost of these.Other that the shady QA process for these, they work well for logs about 6 inch to a bit over 12 inch.

Fabulous tool. Maybe other brands work as well and this one certainly is expensive, however it seems to be a quality lifelong tool. I have been heating my house with wood for years and for some reason I just got turned on to tongs and pickaroon/hookaroons, and I must say...there're both incredibly helpful. I oiled up the joints and it's smooth as glass. If you don't buy these at least buy another brand, and make sure you get 12". If you handle firewood get a set of 12" tongs, and these are good ones. Many people recommended getting a set of two, and I concur.

These timber handling tongs are brilliant for pulling and carrying large roundels or lengths of timber. You don't need to get down to get your hand underneath and endanger your back in awkward lifting positions,nor do you get dirty the same. The technique of using them needs a little practice, but they are much easier and safer then the alternative manhandling method.But, you do need 2 to be fully affective. The ones I have just bought are identical to my existing ones, bought from a local Husqvarna dealer, so your buying the genuine article.these larger ones are more affective then the smaller version. Strongly recommended.

Bought two, one is nice and loose and a joy to use the other is a little tight and not so easy. Hopefully it will loosen up as time goes by. Superb for carrying two logs/ rounds at once up to a certain diameter. For larger pieces I use a pickeroon.

If you have never used these lifting tongs before then you are really missing out on making your life easy moving wood around, so pleased I bought these as without them it would be almost impossible to move large tree trunks around with such ease, recommended.

if you list logs use these they are brilliant i now have two small 20cm and a large 30cm pair and use them all the time. Safer quicker and less hand strain I get a lot of tennis elbow trouble but these save me they are easy to use once you have the knack you will be throwing logs into your wheelbarrow with them

Using this has made collecting logs (some quite large) so much easier. I can pick up and drag a log that's around 10 feet long out of the brush with ease. I wouldn't have been able to do this with a log half its size without using this. Fab product if you collect logs for firewood.
