Really cute show.The only little glitch was because we bought a version from the UK, and they apparently use a different file format on their DvDs then we do in North America, so it won't run in them; only on a computer.

Excellent story and performance
Billy Piper, which have been seen in Doctor Who, is perfect as the young girl Fanny Price who falls in love with her only friend in her new home Mansfield Park. Edmund, who is also her counsin is of course oblivious of Fanny's affection for him but he finally finds out and discover his own true feelings.Billie Piper is the only actor who is known to me but even though, the experience is magnificent. The actors are amusing and act as you would expect for a person in the early 1800.I have always loved Pride and Prejudice (both story and series not the movie) and Mansfield Park comes as a close second after in my opinion.

etwas zu solide- aber durchaus gelungen
Es ist etwas schwierig in Billie Piper eine junge Frau des 19. Jahrhunderts zu sehen. Zu verspielt sind ihre Bewegungen und zu strahlend ist ihr Lachen- so scheint es jedenfalls. Insgesamt muss ich sagen, hat mich die Schauspielerin ausgesprochen positiv überrascht. Zwar scheint ihre Fanny Price etwas mutiger und widerspenstiger als die Fanny des Romans, aber das tut der Rolle eigentlich nur gut, denn auf diese Weise werden die Momente der Kränkung und des Erduldens nur umso deutlicher - und emotionaler.Mansfield Park ist einer der weniger spritzigen und scharfzüngigeren Romane Jane Austens. Die Heldin eher zurückhaltend und erduldend als mutig und geistvoll. Dementsprechend scheinen Verfilmungen sich die Freiheit zu nehmen, der Heldin etwas mehr 'spirit' einzuhauchen und sie so zu modernisieren. Mich persönlich stört das überhaupt nicht.Insgesamt lässt diese Verfilmung etwas den eigenen Ansatz vermissen. Die Geschichte wird glatt erzählt, die Rollen überzeugend dargestellt und die Ausstattung ist gelungen. Es gibt also nichts weiter zu kritteln. Vielleicht hätte etwas mehr Wagnis der Verfilmung jedoch gut getan. Wie auch immer, insgesamt ist diese neueste Adaption von "Mansfield Park" durchaus gelungen. Sie mag einen nicht mitreissen wie manche andere aber sie unterhält ausgezeichnet und ja- sie macht auch Spaß.Offenbar kann man einmal vergeben Sterne nicht ändern, deshalb wird's von mir fünf Sterne geben, obwohl ich eigentlich vier meine. Tja.
