don't know why this got good critics reviews
don't know why this got good critics reviews, I thought it was unfunny and dull. I couldn't empathise with the main characters at all - or the rest of them. If you want a good coming of age movie watch Pretty in Pink, Mean Girls, Clueless, The Breakfast Club etc etc - don't bother with this formulaic offering.

Incapacitatingly funny high school comedy
A hilarious comedy about smart people doing stupid things in the service of knowledge. A genuinely sweet friendship at the core of the film, excellent cameo appearances, and comic set pieces to rival the best in the genre.Olivia Wilde is a gifted director - looking forward to her next film.

Faith in critics destroyed.
I looked forward to this film. The reviews were gushing, the concept appeared fun. However, it is nothing but a confused, tonally unbalanced jaunt that tries to be a woke Superbad. I watched it with my sister who is quite the lefty and even she thought it was dross.

Intelligent, funny and sweet... what more could you want?
Intelligent, funny and sweet... what more could you want? Oh yes... a killer soundtrack! Not your typical high school coming of age movie... initially you have all the usual stereotypes but during the course of the film the stereotypes get turned on their heads.Intelligent humour abounds... there are even laugh out loud moments which catch you unawares. Then there are the sweet scenes between the two leads who are awesome by the way.Although it is a film about American high school students it is clever and endearing enough to transcend the age and culture barriers.I can understand the bad reviews... this film is not for everyone. There is no gross out 'humour', no real sex scenes to speak of and you need to have a soul to appreciate the relationships between these teenagers. All in all I truly enjoyed this film and believe it will become a cult hit... think Breakfast Club crossed with St Elmo's Fire (showing my age now!)

I Just Loved it 'Cause I Loved It
I don't got no complicated reasons for how I feel about this movie. Nothing to do with how into their roles the actors were or how funny the script was or how utterly heartwarming (not to mentions original) the whole premise was. No, I just loved it because it left me with a good, good feeling when the titles rolled. Heck, I just loved it 'cause I loved it; what more can there possibly be to say?

Disappointing
After reading all the glowing reviews for this film I have to say I was more then a little disappointed. It was not much more than an average teen movie with a silly premise. Nothing wrong with the acting, especially the two leads who were good, it was just the concept I had a problem with. Didn't really enjoy it.

Teens may like it
I am likely not in the target audience for this movie, but I assumed it would be enjoyable no matter what (I mean, we were all in school once, right?)I didn't get far in at ALL. Dialogue was very contrived and cartoonish, and the characters were crafted in such a cartoony way it was hard to relate to having ever been like them.I love movies like Whip It! where the female lead is trying to find herself, thought this would be the same. But no. If you're a Tumblr reject, you'll love it.

The Female version of 'Superabad'
Wasn't the type of comedy that made me lose my mind but a pretty funny movie.A fantastic buddy teen comedy movie from a female perspective. The actors breathe even more life into the well-written characters & witty dialogue. The movie takes you back to high school and discovering who you are. The highs of a first kiss and the lows of fighting with your best friend. The standouts are the main two actresses and Billie Lourd, who were all hilarious. While it borrows from many of the coming of age films before it, 'Booksmart' stands apart as a very well shot, funny and entertaining film that could stand the test of time as being this generations 'Mean Girls'.Definitely worth a view for the curious minded.
