Enjoyable Read
I enjoyed reading this book. I have not read any of Jane Austen's books but that will change. I've seen a movie or two based on her books. I enjoyed the history of the Lady's Magazine and what life was like for women in the 1770s-1840s. I also like the references to book characters in the text of this book, especially the book about the life of a pincushion. :)

Important note about book templates if you can’t find them
When you go to the chapter for making the “ gold work bag” there is a paragraph that tells you to click the word ‘here’ for the pattern template. This takes you to the authors webpage. Scroll down to the two large embroidery floral prints and it will say “ downloads” . CLick that and many patterns that are printable will show up. It is easy to overlook this. These won’t appear as part of the digital download of the book but are very nice!

Patterns with actual historical significance, book has plenty of background information and text
This book is spectacular. It's a nice hardcover with the lettering pressed in. I often find this types of "pattern" books are just a list of projects, and inspo, which you can get for free on Pinterest. This book has a couple of sections that are full text (and historical Lino prints) with background information on the actual clothing, home goods, and embroidery patterns of the period. This book isn't a bunch of dumb projects "inspired" by Jane Austen, they're real patterns, with embroidery adapted from real fashion plates, with real historical significance. They have quotes from Jane Austen's book and make the projects things that she explicitly names in the book. I'm very pleasantly surprised by the depth of knowledge, cited sources, and aesthetic quality of this pattern book! Perfect for any Jane Austen lover (embroider-er or not), historical costumer, or embroidery artist.

Best embroidery book I’ve bought
This is one of the best embroidery books I’ve bought in a long time, it’s based on the embroidery of Jane Austen’s time, but is bang up to date with the projects, which include a sleeve for your iPad/tablet and all other Kinds of little purses and napkins And tablecloths, I can’t wait to get started, I want to do almost everything in the book, which is rare, normally I only find one or two. It also contains lots of interesting facts and anecdotes from her time. Buy it, it’s one embroidery book purchase you will not regret!
