I was skeptical at first but these really work. My boyfriend and I buy most of our groceries at Costco and the fruits and veggies almost always go bad before we can finish it all. But its still cheaper than buying it from other supermarkets so…Well I took a chance on this product and I’ve been pleasant surprised with how well it works. It extends the longevity of your produce so that it won’t spoil and go in the trash. Its less wasteful and better for the environment…something I’ve been trying to be more conscious about. Cutting down on plastic/paper waste was pretty easy with mesh produce bags and sponge cloths like this instead of paper towels. But food waste has been more difficult to tackle until I found these! You just place it in the fridge or wherever you keep your produce. Theres a packet inside the blue apple that absorbs ethylene gas, the things that causes your food to ripen. Most of our fruits go into the humidity control drawer in the fridge so that’s where we have ours. Before we got these, our produce would go bad so quickly (sometimes in 3-4 days) but now that can easily last 1-2 weeks. Lettuce, apples, bananas, onions, ginger, it works for everything. You can tell it’s fresher by just looking at it. They don’t get soggy anymore. It hasn’t been 3 months yet so I haven’t had to replace them yet but it sounds easy enough. You just twist open the plastic container and replace the packet. The product comes with 8 refills so that should last me at least a year. Not sure if I can buy just the refills themselves but I’ll figure that out when I have to. I would highly recommend it if you’re experiencing the same problem that I was having. The effect is noticeable, and you’ll save money from not having to buy as much groceries. Yes the product itself isn’t cheap at $20 for 2 but it won’t take long for you to get that money back from your produce. PS- The Bluapple is made in the US, not China!

So far these blue balls are nice. Wait, that don't sound right. Anyway, I was hopeful but skeptical when I saw them on a local news segment, but decided to give them a try, hoping it would keep my stuff from going limp after only a short while. Initially we put them in the crisper drawers, where most things are in open bags. At first I really couldn't tell if it was doing anything or not though. Things seemed to stay fresh, but were also being used before they would go bad either way. One of the things that always goes bad quickly are bags of store bought shredded lettuce we occasionally get. After only a couple of days it will usually have turned mostly brown and wilted. I decided to throw one of these in the bag and closed it off. While it didn't perform a miracle, it did extend it's life to almost a week. So color me somewhat impressed anyway. It's not going to render your vegetable immune to decay, but it does seem to be working to keep things from going limp in my drawers. Um...yeah.

I am a lazy healthy eater, and these things are amazing! I like to grocery shop once a week, I'm not into going to the store every day for fresh fruits/veggies. I also LOVE buying in bulk when I can, so like a ton of apples or potatoes, oranges, whatever you can get in a bag. Also- single lady, so I buy in bulk but I'm not going through 10 lbs of potatoes with any kind of quickness. I got these little blue apples to keep from throwing out waste when I buy more than I should and don't get to eating it all before it goes bad. THEY TOTALLY WORK! My apples stay way fresher way longer, all my fruits and veggies do. I put one in each drawer and kind of try to get it centered among the produce in that drawer and that's it. I really haven't done a calculation, but I know that I am throwing out a lot less fruits and veggies and especially apples are lasting a lot longer. So inexpensive for how much you will save on your produce bill. DEFINITELY WORTH IT!

I ordered & placed the blue apple fruit & vegetable in my refrigerator. They are supposed to help with ethynol gases and keep both fruits & vegs fresher. They have been in my refrigerator awhile but I have yet to notice if my fruits are fresher & not overiping as fast. Hopefully more time will tell.

Just bought these. They are the same kind of product as what I usually buy (green disk type) and know really, truly works but the size, shape and cute factor means I can also put it in the fruit bowl on the counter. I love that they are refillable so I am not throwing them away. The only thing I wasn't 100% thrilled with is that they are a bit difficult to open. Fortunately , I only need to do it 4 Xs a year, so not a deal breaker. I had to pry mine open with a spreading knife. They definitely will not pop open accidentally but if my arthritis were any worse I would not have been able to open them. If they ever make an improved model a screw top from bottom would be very nice. The royal blue is perfect for my kitchen but a second color option that blends with the other fruit might be preferable for some people. I don't know if it will help with potatoes, onions, or bananas, as some complaints have been made. 1st it won't help if you are storing those items incorrectly to begin with. Based on a couple of complaints I am sure they were storing them together. Potatoes & onions should be stored away from each other, so if it will help, they will need their own Blue Apples. (I think I might even remember that the reason they don't get along is that they give off different gases so that would be worth looking up before you order BAs for your root vegetables.) Bananas are so sensitive to more than just the gas. If the Blue Apple doesn't help, don't fret, simply, peel & place in a ziploc bag in the freezer. You can use frozen bananas for smoothies, baking, desserts. If you don't wait too long too freeze them and again to use them they will taste exactly the same when you go to use them. They are not pretty but they taste fine and they still have all their nutrients.

I received only two bluapples, but consignment didn't contain any refills. In the product description it is written as, 2 bluapples and 8 refills, which will serve for 1year. But I didn't receive any refills.

I wasn't sure about the product, but my produce was getting bad too often so I decided to try. I can say it works as described, from things going to the garbage in 1 week, now they last at least for 2 weeks so I can eat them instead of throwing away food. Happy customer!

A friend told me about this product, and I tried it with a bunch of bananas. Usually bananas turn black soon after buying them. I put a bunch in a sealed plastic container with the “blue apple”, and the bananas lasted much longer. Impressed.😊
