Spinet Pro, Fidget Spinner, Stainless Steel, R188 ceramic hybrid bearing, 3-6 minute spins

Have had 2 of these - both were out of balance.(Held vertically, the same lobe always falls to the bottom.)Unbalanced, they judder and the gyroscopic effect is marred.I returned the worst one and filed the other one's lobes into balance.Once balanced, they work fine.Except... no way could I get 3-6 minute spins with the installed R188 hybrid bearing (ceramic balls in steel races).Barely even got to 3 mins. Noisy and rough too.Tried blowing it out with compressed air, washing with IPA, lubricating with 10-weight NanoOil.(The latter didn't work at all - slowed it to a snail's pace.)Finally, replaced the bearing with a full ceramic R188 - £10 from Amazon (sourcing map).Much better - quiet, smooth, long spins.Not saying full ceramics are necessarily better than hybrids but this full ceramic has worked for me.Maximum spin time isn't really the point though - who has the time or inclination to sit chasing record spins?A free-spinning spinner is just more beautiful and more fidgetable.The positives:The spinner itself is smooth and weighty.The rear-sloping lobes are a clever shape for speed-flicking.The bearing is easy to get out - just unscrew the retaining ring.Balanced and with a good bearing, works well.

The spinner is good, but it's not great as you would expect for the price. I don't think the QC branch have done their job as the spinner is NOT BALANCED. If you spin the spinner vertically, eventually it will stop and then it will do a half spin back on itself, and then it will spin the other way again, and so on, until it eventually stops. What this means is that the spinner is not balanced, and one of the corners of the spinner will always point upwards. This might seem trivial, but it is not, as this makes the spinner to wobble, which in turn slows the spinner as energy will be lost as it is converted from centrifugal to kinetic. The wobble can even be felt on the hand. Hence the reason I find the spinner good, but not great! Also, the actual bearing it's not the best of quality. It is as if they have sourced from China the cheapest bearing they could source. The rest of the spinner feels better quality than the bearing, although the fact that it is in-balanced can not be overlooked.

This small spinner fits nicely in the hand with its smooth design, it is perfect for fidgeting with your fingers. When spinning it on a desk it sounds quiet compared to the other spinners I have and the spin lasts the longest. I like it so much I'm going to buy a 2nd one to leave at work, it makes a nice design piece. It's well presented in a box and the pouch it comes with is soft and perfect for storing it in.Price wise it's a little more expensive than the cheaper spinners, but I think it's worth spending a little extra for this stainless steel one, overall it's much more satisfying.

Most of my spinners have come from the renowned makers in the USA and there has always been the odd issue with importing them back to the UK. It has always been a great pity that there were so few makers based in the country.The current trend for smoother bodies and smaller spin diameters coupled with the rise of Tri Spinners means that the Spinet Pro is still hugely satisfying to use and performs superbly.I think the performance stems from the high quality design and the deeply impressively finished SS body.There are no hotspots and it is very comforting to be able to spin and regenerate in either direction with ease over a longer period of time. The spinner is exceptionally well balanced, not perfect, but easily a match for many esteemed makers highly regarded efforts. Tolerances are very good leading to a spin that is virtually without flutter offering pleasing and direct gyroscopic feedback into the fingers.One area for improvement ‘might’ be the buttons. I say might because this is a personal nit pick. They are dedicated male and female, offer excellent grip and have a concave surface. There really are no issues unless you have tried something a little larger up to 23 or 24mm. Then The Spinet Pro comes very close to perfection in all areas.The spinner is going to last a life time and the bearing can easily cleaned or replaced during the daily working life of the spinner. It will arrive with a nice dedicated cloth bag and a small substantial cardboard box which would make it a nice gift.Thank you.

Beautifully made, small and almost silent spinner. Perfect for adults with ADHD who want something classy and discreet to fiddle with in meetings!
