Choo-Choo-Choose This One! The Step2 Deluxe Canyon Road Train & Track Table - A Timeless Hit!
As a parent who’s navigated the wonderful, chaotic world of kid's toys, let me tell you, finding something that truly captivates and endures is a rare gem. The Step2 Deluxe Canyon Road Train & Track Table is exactly that kind of gem. Setting it up was a breeze – seriously, even for those of us who dread assembly instructions, this was a win. But the real magic? This table became an instant hit with my two middle children. I’m talking hours, daily, of imaginative play. They loved it so much that sharing became… well, let's just say it was a learning experience for them! The durable plastic construction truly holds up to enthusiastic toddler play, and the built-in track design sparked endless adventures for their cars and the included train set. What makes this table a standout isn't just the immediate joy it brings; it's the longevity. This isn't one of those toys that gets forgotten in a week. It genuinely lasted for years in our home, providing countless hours of entertainment. In fact, if we’d had the space to keep it once they outgrew it (a common dilemma for us "super-parents" with overflowing toy rooms!), I bet it would still be going strong today. My youngest even missed out on this particular phase, and honestly, I feel a little bad about it! If you’re a parent looking for a classic toy that will ignite your children’s imaginations, encourage independent play, and truly stand the test of time, this Step2 train table is absolutely for you. It's a fantastic investment in fun and creativity!

A great all-in-one train (and car) solution
I came across this table while looking for the simplest train+track set for my son's 3rd birthday. The more I thought about the table, the more I liked the idea. It was more money, but worth it. It's up off the floor and the best part is no tracks to come apart, get lost under things, or get broken. His matchbox cars work great on it, and a Thomas engine, too. (for his birthday he also got a thomas set with track and a disney cars set with track--we got out the vehicles but not the tracks because we already had this and who needs the extra mess?) The cover is a good option for a play table or doing puzzles, but we haven't used it yet because he plays with the train and cars every day. Some said the train that comes with it is dinky, but it's fine and rolls well. Matchbox cars roll great. One Thomas he got is a bigger one and fits on the track, but is tight on some of the corners. Likewise, he got a Disney Cars set that is wider (I guess so you have to use their tracks?). Some of those vehicles fit, but don't roll well, but he doesn't seem to mind. It did take some time to apply all the stickers, but it wasn't difficult and you don't have to get them perfect. The hardest part was every time I'd get a sticker almost in place, the train would come through again! He was so excited to play with it that it probably took me 20 mins to put the stickers on instead of 10. We also found out you cannot put it up against a wall, which was the original plan for our living room. The reason is that the kids are going to be walking all the way around it while they're driving their train or car.

Perfect Small Toddler Train Table!
I purchased this train track for my son at Christmas and it was the biggest hit! He's 18 months old and the perfect age for this table. I love that the track is built into the table, so I don't have to keep putting a track back together all the time or have pieces thrown all over the house. This is definitely the first toy that has held my son's attention for long periods of time and he will play and play with it. It's really a great toddler train table. Assembly wasn't bad at all - with the exception of the stickers. I wish that the stickers were already on the track when purchased; however, you get a big sheet that gives you the detail on where to place them on the table. That's ok - if you are not OCD like I am. It was sticker hell. I ended up cutting several pieces of the layout (especially the long curved pieces) in order to lay them down without wrinkles in the track. Otherwise, the bridges just pop in with little plastic darts and the legs snap into place. The legs to come with screws to secure it into place, but I left them out so that I could easily take the legs down and put the table away if needed. I will also say that the recommended wooden train set that Amazon shows to buy with this product should not be recommended. I bought this Orbrium Toys 12 Pcs Wooden Engines & Train Cars Collection fits Thomas, Brio, Chuggington set when I bought the table and it's really awful as a paired product. The trains are too tall to go under most of the bridges and that's just frustrating to my child. The Thomas Take and Play trains work really great with this table - size is perfect. Also, the matchbox cars work really well with this too.

The Most Played-With Toy in Our House!
This was a big investment for us, but the BEST money my husband and I have spent on a toy for our son! We purchased this table 6 months ago when our son was 18 months old, and I can honestly say it is the ONLY toy out of his big collection that gets played with EVERY day, several times a day. And for a toddler to stay that interested in any one thing for 6 months is AMAZING. Here are what we like about it: - DURABLE: Our son repeatedly stages huge crashes with several cars all over this table and (if we took the time to get stray dog hair out of some of the crevices) the it could still pass for brand new. - IT'S SELF-CONTAINED AND THE PIECES STAY IN PLACE: We tend to like more "classic" toys at our house, but after seeing the wooden train tracks spread out in a billion pieces at other people's houses, found this to be a better fit for younger kiddos. It's always set up, always ready to play with, and none of the pieces have ever come loose or gotten lost. Maybe this takes away some opportunity for creativity since the track is always the same, but there is also not the frustration of lost parts or an incomplete track. Also, all the cars and trains can stay in it even with the lid on. - YOU AREN'T LIMITED TO ONE VEHICLE SYSTEM: I agree with previous reviews that the cars and trains that came with the set are kind of junky, but I love the fact that you can run cars and trains you already have on it just fine. We have a combo of some Thomas metal trains, Hotwheel cars, and a few random wooden trains that all work great on it. - MY SON CAN PLAY WITH THIS BY HIMSELF OR WITH FRIENDS: And since he doesn't need a grown-up's help, it's a great independence-builder! All in all, while this is pricey for a toy, it was by far the best investment we've made in any toy for him so far.

Great toy, but it won't look like the photo. Not for OCD parents.
Great toy. My child loves it. It IS sort of big - way bigger than the Step2 water table. It's about the size of an adult coffee table. I thought it'd be smaller than a train table, but it's about the same, just longer and thin versus more train tables being squarer. It might be a few cubic inches smaller than a train table, but that's it. No complaints about any of that. The assembly, although not difficult, is annoying. One bridge didn't really fit flush like the others did and I'm a little afraid that cars will get caught on it, but oh well. Your kid will love it, the bridges don't move, so no having to go fix them every two seconds like a wooden track. So plus 1 for all the OCD people who get the heebeegeebees thinking about keeping track of that. HOWEVER... The caveats: Stickers are NEVER going to line up - they are designed to short out. It tells you to leave gaps between the stickers, but even so, it's more than you think. It WILL NOT EVER LOOK LIKE THE PICTURE. The instructional picture shows a continuous decoration, uninterrupted. This must be from the prototype. The stickers don't even have the tracks printed to the edge of the stickers, there is a built in margin, so even if they were perfectly butted up to each other, there is a built in gap, so the picture's a fraud. If that is a deal breaker for you, don't buy it, you'll be mad. Once you get over that fact, and get over yourself trying to be a perfectionist, it's not the worst thing in the world. It is tedious, and even the relaxed will find themselves pulling the stickers back up and redoing them in an attempt to make them suck less. It'll never be perfect, it can just suck less. However, your kid probably won't care and when you think of it as decoration instead of a feature, it's not as upsetting. It's still day one with it, but my 2 year old loves it and has so much fun running his matchbox cars up and down the ramps. Like everyone else says in other reviews, it's crappy that instead of a nice plastic top, you get this cardboardy/plywood top that has a hole instead of a handle, so it can't go outside and isn't as durable in that way as the water table that Step2 makes. But if you know that ahead of time, it's not that upsetting.

Fantastic for toddlers!
I purchased this item for my son for a gift for his second birthday. I was so excited to give it to him that we didn't wait until his birthday. This table is awesome! The table looks even better than the pictures. It is bright and colorful and provides loads of fun! He uses his Matchbox Cars and Thomas Trains on it. My daughter, age 4, also loves to play with it. The table is large enough where the two of them can play together without getting in each others way. In fact the table is so large that my son sometimes feels inclined to climb into it so he can push his cars around the middle tracks. The table is quite large - it is the size of a large coffee table. The only downside that I have found is that it was a nightmare to assemble - The stickers were hard to put on and don't line up well (which is annoying to me). Trying to screw the legs in was also a pain. You have to screw through the plastic and there are no prefabricated holes which makes it difficult. Even with my power screw driver, I had a bit of trouble. I also got blisters trying to push in the tracks. I have found this to be the case with a lot of the Step 2 products though. However, as with our other products, after the nightmarish assembly - the toys hold up and get lots of use! We love Step 2 products and have purchased several items from them in the past. I highly recommend any Step 2 product - they withstand lots of abuse from your kids and provide loads of entertainment, not to mention - they are very reasonably priced. We also own the kitchen, toy box, water table, Kangaroo Climber and kitchen table. They are by far the most played with toys in our house. You can't go wrong with Step 2.

Highly recommend, easy install
Absolutely recommend! I was worried about putting it together due to other reviews but it couldn’t have been easier. Doesn’t need holes to screw the legs in, just need to apply a little pressure. I couldn’t push in the screw pins for the bridges w my fingers cause I have long nails but I just used the handle part of the screw driver. The hardest part was the stickers lol but took me no longer than 30 min to complete. My baby is obsessed! Really love the table top cover, will glue Lego sheets on it eventually. Definitely glad I purchased!

So much better than a traditional train table!!!
Being a mother to 3 boys of varying ages, I consider myself something of an expert on this topic. My youngest who just turned 2 is in the train phase, and I thought long and hard about whether or not to purchase a train table for him. Our older boys had wooden train tables that took up a lot of space, and didn't get used all that often. But I found myself thinking of a train table this time around (almost against my will), because of the mess of tracks and trains I was continually tripping over. So the research began and it brought me to the Step2 table. This table absolutely exceeds my expectations. 1. It's compact without feeling small. Some of the train tables on the market are obnoxiously big.. 2. It provides a nice built-in track system that can't be torn apart by your toddler. (a HUGE deal for me.) 3. The cover allows for a fairly nice sized track to be set up on it if you do want to use your tracks. (This was important to me because we have amassed a nice collection of wooden railway items that I still wanted to be able to use. 4.You can store your trains underneath the lid when not in use. Our toddler has played with this a ton since Christmas, and mommy' s patting herself on her back for making such an inspired purchase. A Few things to know: The table is a very sturdy plastic, and will stand up to a lot of abuse, but we have found that our toddler can very easily slide it around on our laminate flooring. I will have to address this by placing a mat in this area. The other thing is that the table is the perfect height for toddler climbing...our guy gets into it every time he plays with the lid off (lid on doesn't seem to present the same temptation for him...). Just some things to know, but by all means don't let it deter you from buying this table. It really is SUCH a great and versatile product.

time suck! in a good way
i bought this for my toddler (20 months) because it looked like a good investment and geez was it ever. since buying this track table we have moved 2 other large items (gym climb set/ ball pit) out of our dwelling space. this table provides oodles and oodles amount of entertainment for my boy. it's rewarding seeing him figure out how the track works :) he does like to climb ontop of the table sometimes which is fine (he is 35 pounds) it is very sturdy. hot wheel cars - the standard usual ones will fit on this track no problem. my boy loves his mike wazowski speeding over the race track one thing i didn't realize was i was going to have to put the stickers on the table myself - and there's no room for error. you have to get the angle just right!! the stickers are amazing quality and don't rip if you misplace them; even sticking it. just pull back what you need to restick and it'll be fine. it feels like more of a gift that i was able to customize for him by putting on the stickers

Love it!!
great set!! No small pieces so it was great for my 1.5 year old, and it's plastic so you don't have to worry about it breaking up easily. Assembly was easy with drill.. had to start some holes ourselves but with a drill it was not bad. Great for a table also for our kids to colour on. Love this product and would definitely recommend.
