Calming Therapy: An Anti-Stress Coloring Book

The media could not be loaded.  This is a really lovely book of eclectic designs – the intent is for the designs to have a calming effect on the colorist. I must admit I was more excited than calm when I first looked through the book. The book is divided into two sections. The first (and larger portion of the book) is for coloring. These designs have a great deal of detail and will be fun to sit and color. The second part of the book is for doodling. The designs are purposefully left open so that you can finish them as you wish. This should also be a lot of fun when I am in the mood to doodle and draw rather than color. Both sections of the book cover a wide range of designs – lots of animals, plants, flowers, buildings, etc. There is such a wide range of designs, there will always be one sure to fit my mood of the day.This is my first coloring book in this anti-stress line and I was amazed to see that most of the backgrounds were filled in with lovely colors. As I generally leave my background blank (unless I really really feel that I need to color it), this book will give a much more finished look to my work. The backgrounds have different looks – some are solid while others have designs, watercolor effects and other techniques to give them an unusual look.The book is hardbound with heavy cardboard covers. The paper is a good quality and the designs are printed on both sides of the paper. The binding is glued rather than sewn. Many of the designs spread across two pages and reach into the bound edge.I tested and my gel pens do not leak through the page; however, all of my markers bleed through easily. I will definitely stick with mostly pencils and some gel pens while coloring in this book.

Since I heard of the ______ Therapy coloring books roughly a year ago, I've been nothing if not enamored by them. I'm a proud owner of each and every one that has been released, and Calming Therapy keeps with the high standard that I have come to expect from this series of coloring books, which I regard to be easily the best that are on the market now.The difference between the Therapy series of coloring books, all lovingly illustrated by the same rotating group of three or four artists (not solely Hannah Davies as the listing says), and other coloring books, and what makes them treasured by me personally, is the hardback cover. This elevates it from something that's simply a coloring book to more of an art book, the sort of book that one wouldn't be quite so embarrassed leaving on the coffee table, finished or unfinished. As always, the illustrations are beautiful, with details both large and small that can be colored to one's heart's content, and the pages are thick enough that they can stand up to almost any medium when used right-- a boon for someone like me, who is partial to the bright colors that markers evoke, rather than colored pencils as many understandably prefer.Now, admittedly, I'm an old pro at illustrating with markers, and I've been doing it for years. I tend to prefer fine points and brush pens, and I've mastered the technique of pressing just hard enough for color to take on a page without overlapping too much to avoid bleed through. It's an art rather than a science, and so, if one is worried about bleed-through and inexperienced with markers, I wouldn't recommend this book for them-- because the art is printed double-sided on the pages, if one is not careful, bleed-through could happen and ruin the other side of the page, something that's admittedly happened to me once or twice (but which was easily enough fixed when coloring the opposite side).That being said, I really cannot recommend this book enough, especially for the price. It has pages that promise dozens, if not hundreds, of hours of enjoyment, and I've already purchased another copy of it to give to a friend.

This book is fabulous it's so big and filled with so many different designs to color. This book will last you awhile. I'm definitely going to get the other books in this series. I highly recommend this book. It's a great change from coloring all the usual flowers and leaves in all the usual coloring books out there right now.

I purchased this for myself to help woth anxiety and stress.Needless to say it certainly works! I only gave it four stars because some of the pages have sections that are already colored in, however they are small and can be used as a good guide to help you determine which colors to use to fill the images in. There are so many beautiful scenes in this book. A moon and stars scenario as well as Jelly Fish and many other gorgeous images. I love that it's hardcover, makes it so that storing it away you simply don't fret the pages will bend or tear or wear down.Job well done!

The artwork is beautiful and it is bound like a real book which I was presently surprised by! The only issue I have is I wish there wasn't as many pictures they already have some color added. I didn't expect that. I would prefer for it all to be ready for me to fill in on my own. Also, I would love for a similar book with larger images, meaning the parts to color are larger. The same intricate design, just larger so you could possibly use color crayons as well as helpful for those who may have difficult seeing/coloring such small areas.

Love this book! Each page has many different designs from animals to landscape. I recently purchased this book as well as several others for my wife's birthday this month. I couldn't keep it from her so she got it early, she has been working on 1 single 2 page spread for the last 4 days and has loved every moment of it. She has found using the Prismacolor Premier pencils to be best for coloring over the already colored sections and changing the look of them. The paper the pages are printed on are wonderful quality, very thick and glossy, very easy to blend her pencils on!

I have another hard cover coloring book from this same author that I absolutely love. I actually bought this one as a Christmas present. I paged through it and the print/images were crisp and vibrant. The pictures are beautiful and a good mix of easy and more tough/time consuming options. This is an excellent quality book. I love the hard cover, but what would make it even better would be if it was spiral bound so it's easier to color in.

Not the ideal book for colouring in as pages are printed on both sides. However the hard cover jacket is wonderful for storing, and coping pages out of as required for personal use.I previously owned the other two books in this series and knew what I was buying.Collection of pages that have something for everyone who enjoys colouring, and their respective comfort level of details.

auf jeder Seite wurde schon vorgemalt, sozusagen.Das wurde auch schon an anderen Stellen kritisiert - ich habe mich aber trotzdem für dieses Buch aufgrund der sehr sehr vielfältigen Motive entschieden. Da malt man nicht auf 50 oder was Seiten nur Wälder, Tiere oder Mandalas aus, sondern auch Gegenstände wie Matrjoschkas, "orientalische" Lampen und Kaffeekannen, Städte und Häuser oder einfach nur fließende Motive. Und das manchmal auf A4 oder auch mal auf A3 über die gesamte Doppelseite hinweg. Das ist echt genial! Für jeden etwas dabei und es wird nie langweilig.Beim Kauf hab ich mir gedacht, dass die vorgedruckten Farben ja nicht SO einschränkend sein können... Aber ich muss sagen, dass ich es nach meiner ersten fertigen Doppelseite schon frustrierend finde und fand. Die Farben leuchten nicht, wie sie könnten, weil sie von türkis-blau umgeben sind... und es gibt keinen Weg sie zu übermalen, außer vielleicht mit Schwarz. Was aber, wenn man gerade dafür einen hellen Farbton wählen würde wollen?Nunja, ist also ein super Buch, sehr stabil, aber leider doch mit der großen Einschränkung des vielen vorgedruckten Ausgemaltem.

Cualquiera de los libros de esta colección es bueno, pero este es uno de los que menos me gusto por los diseños de las laminas, aunque hay bastantes rescatables creo que el 50% esta bien. Ventajas fondo iluminado, papel bastante bueno tapa dura, yo prefiero que las hojas solo tengan un lado para colorear pero en este libro no es así.
