Best available, long range, but could be better
I'm giving five stars even though it has a couple of design quirks, because nothing else I've seen comes close to what this can do.I have it mounted on the top of a 1000 gallon water tank, somewhere between 150-200 feet from where the receiver sits on the far wall of my house. It goes through one exterior wall with windows, possibly one interior wall, and that's pretty impressive, especially if the projected 10 year battery life holds true. Mounting it was easy enough, requiring cutting a proper sized hole in the top of the thick plastic tank. Now for the two design quirks. One is that you have to pair the receiver and transmitter EVERY TIME THE RECEIVER LOSES POWER. Trying to find the best place to put it inside your house? You better have a long extension cord, and then, having found the perfect spot, if you want to replace that long cord with something shorter, you will have to go to the tank, unscrew two Phillips screws, bring the transmitter to the house, re-pair the two, and take the transmitter back to the tank and re-mount it with the two screws. Power failures once or twice in the winter? Better put it on a UPS.I really don't understand why it has no battery for just a few minutes life. This is $130; raising the price to $150 if it included a 10 minute battery would be a no-brainer.The second quirk is that there are 8 dip switches to set to configure the tank size and shape. They've got a list of around a hundred settings (could go to 256 with 8 switches), ordered by height, with some notations for common tanks. I have just started at the first tank over 5 feet (mine is closer to 6 feet) and am trying each one in turn. It still is useful in a general sense, because all I really want to know is whether the float or other pump circuitry has died and is not pumping water. So far, it shows 50% when full, and 30% when near empty; I will keep trying combinations of switches until I find something better. It would be helpful if there were a better guide to choosing switches. Perhaps a formula would work -- empty and full heights, and diameter, that would be handy. But like I said at the beginning, there's nothing close to it that I can find for the price, so it gets 5 stars.

Works great.
I live in an old home with two oil tanks in the cellar. The indicator that was in there was the original one. I'm thinking of calling a museum. You just never knew how much oil you had, and you had to run down there to check. I just moved in 2 months ago and was not used to that. I ran out of oil twice. Now I know exactly how much oil I have. I was told it was easy to install. I have it plugged into the kitchen and I just glance at it when the weather man says its going to be cold.

OEM Rocket Review
Worked exactly as designed. The product uses sonar to "ping" the tank and then based on dip switches in the receiver, uses raw depth readings to calculate tank levels based on tank height. I own a duplex with one furnace (and one tank) on the other side of the house- through my tenant's locked basement. This is perfect for my situation, if a little expensive. I believe it costs so much b/c no one else has a similar product (at least not in the U.S.).Installation was a snap. If you're even moderately handy, all you need is a pipe wrench, some thread sealant (Teflon tape or goop), a screw driver and about 20 minutes and you'll be good to go. I definitely recommend this product.

Great Product!
We bought an almost 200 year old house with two oil tanks in the basement. Unfortunately the gauge was broken and the quote to get it fixed was astronomical, because the house is so old the pipe size is no longer what they install so every pipe leading in and out of the tank would have needed to be replaced. Tapping on the tanks was not working - so we decided to give this a try. We love it- even if you have a working gauge the convenience of being able to see your oil level from your kitchen is awesome. Highly recommend!

Worked great. Easy set up.
Easy to set up as long as you follow directions. Take your time, and make sure the dip switches are set the correct size tank.

All issues with no support..... get the "LED AAG" instead
I bought one so I didn't have to keep going down across the basement to check my oil.I am and engineer and didn't find it that easy to set up. Forget if your a house wife. After I got it working I was happy for about a week then it wasn't registering correctly again.I called the service number and left multiple messages. By now I'm pissed and want to return it.I could not get in touch with the MFR at all...So now this expensive device is sitting in a draw in my garage and I get pissed every time I see it.I decided to search again for a device that I can remotely read my downstairs tank level.I found a 5 star device for about the same price. Its MFR'd by Krueger Sentry Gauge. Its called the "LED at a Glance".The product is fairly new and I think they found there price point.Had mine for 3 years and it works great. Never even changed the battery yet.I now see Sears and Wal-Mart sell it at a reasonable price.. Google "LED AAG"I would expect you to be as happy as I am..
