I waited a long time to actually 'pull the trigger' on this. My everyday stainless was perfectly fine, but getting a little sad after something like 20+ years. It started to irritate me somehow--which is odd in itself, how can you be irritated by place settings, the very thought of being irritated by my place settings makes me a little ashamed. It was even low end Reed and Barton, not some sad crap from IKEA. It did the job and it was fine, truthfully even sad crap from IKEA can do the job so what is the problem? It wasn't 'high style' at the time it was puchased, and so it isn't embarrasing now. I didn't 'need' new place settings, I don't even entertain!, but even if I did and I continued to use the R&B, it's not like I would have to be ashamed of it, it was fine. It was fine. I, obviously, had a hard time justifying the purchase. I finally gave in to this completely regressive and extravagant urge--yes, I know it is relatively inexpensive, but if you have perfectly serviceable place settings, it feels extravagant. It's not like the R&B broke down and I was unable to feed myself. Trust me, my old sad R&B was always able to feed me with fulsome robustness. I didn't need this.Here is the thing, I am very happy I bought this. It is beautiful. The gold is subtle and almost disappears in some lighting--which I like. The last thing I wanted was a showy, garish gold element, but I wanted the gold to be there. The pieces are a little heavy which I also like, not sure why. And here is a strange thing--the knives are actually sort of sharp. I have never seen a place setting before which has actually sharp knives, like you could actually sharpen them--I wouldn't but maybe you could...that's amazing to me. I am very happy.

The family is expanding and I needed extra place settings. How thrilled that my pattern is still manufactured. This is a very durable set and has lasted quite a few years with almost daily washing in the dish washer and 3 children. No rust at all. My older set is just not as shiny as the extra place settings I bought.

Had my first set of Gorham for 30 years and loved it, but it had been discontinued. Some pieces lost and others mutilated in disposal. This should be my last set! Love them! UPDATE 11-26-17: The knife blades are pitting already and I have only had them 3 months. These are supposed to be 18/10. I never had these issues out of my old set. Extremely disappointing... Update 11-13-18 Lennox does not warranty since purchased in bulk by Amazon. Said blades are made from a different grade material for "cutting" purposes. Soft scrub or Bartenders Friend was recommended. Update: Bartenders Friend and Soft Scrub did not help. The metal is pitted, not just surface rust. Very disappointed that neither Amazon or Lennox stands behind their products.

Bought one place setting in the 80's alone with different other patterns because I really couldn't decide. Constantly came back to this one because I find it elegant but not too fussy. Bought enough to complete my set. Very well packed for shipping. Arrived later than I wanted but I waited years so no biggy. Look pristine and new. Very happy.

I had four place settings of this pattern and needed two more, but the store no longer carried it and I couldn't get it from the Gorham website. I was so happy to have found it onAmazon. I love this pattern. I have dishes with gold on the edges and it looks so nice with them. Also, Gorham makes very nice flatware and I would highly recommend them to anyone. I especially love the weight of the pieces. They feel so solid.

The pieces are quality and a very good weight and the pattern is lovely. I've purchased Gorham flatware before in other patterns, and this item is an example of their continued quality.

This is a gorgeous pattern that you can dress up or down. The weight of the pieces is higher than moststainlesss and the quality is excellent as well. At this price buy all you can afford-either to add to your collection orto start a new one. I received excellent service and super fast shipping as well.
