Texsport Cast Iron 2 Sided Reversible Griddle 9.5 x 20 Inch,Gray

Does just what it’s supposed to do.

Product says it is 9.5"X20". It is actually 9"x19.75" and the 19.75" included the handles. Cooking area is 8.75"X16"

So the listing said nothing about the wax coating that must be cleaned before use. The griddle comes coated in wax that you are suppose to clean off before use. I was confused about the wax at first but it comes with a little card that explains you need to heat the griddle to a high temperature on an outside fire because burning wax smokes. Then you are suppose to wipe off the melting wax. Of course you will need some high temperature oven mittens to do this. I don't have an outside location to do this at the moment so I won't be trying out the new griddle anytime soon. Wish I would have picked a better product that didn't come covered in wax.

I purchased this griddle to use on a gas range. I rinsed the griddle lightly with water, dried it with a paper towel, and then put it in the oven, first on 350F for about 10 minutes, then 400F for about 10 minutes. I removed the griddle from the oven (using thickly padded pot holders), wiped off the liquid waxy substance with paper towels, oiled the griddle on both sides with olive oil, using folded paper towels to wipe it down, and then put the griddle back in the oven on 400F, 450F, then 400F. It took about 1-1/2 hours for the whole seasoning process. I then used the griddle to make a batch of pancakes for freezing. Pancakes were perfect, no sticking. I used a light coating of nonstick pan spray also just before pouring the mix. Later on, I used the griddle (grill side up) to make a ham and cheese panini. It worked perfectly! Fits the gas range just right. Nice price, too :) I should mention that I placed a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil on the oven rack and put the griddle directly on it to catch the liquid wax during the first 20 minutes in the oven. I removed the foil for the rest of the seasoning process.

Sweet baby J this thing was hard to season! I used our gas BBQ and had to follow the seasoning instructions about 3 times to get all the coating completely off and for it to turn from grey to black. It took a little too long in my opinion and I was doing everything correctly as this is not my first cast iron rodeo. Once seasoned though this griddle is great! I paired it with my coalman camp stove for a recent camping trip and made every meal on it, worked fantastic! Grilled cheese sandwiches campfire side was a huge hit with my kiddos.

Great Griddle. Fits my coleman camp stove perfectly. Item was shipped in sturdy box. It had no cracks or defects of any kind. The coating came of fairly easy. I lite my charcol grill off and heated it up over a hot bed of coals. Using oven mitts, I wiped of the coating with a paper towel. Repated the process afew times waiting about five minutes between wipes. Then, while coals were still hot, seasoned griddle with several coatings of bacon grease and left on grill till the coals were out and griddle was cool to the touch. Have take camping several times and have no complaints.

The grill comes with instructions on how to remove the wax coating by heating it up on an outside grill. I live in an apartment, so I did it on my stove top. It was very smokey, but I was able to wipe off the wax coating just fine after it got good and hot. The grill works great for cooking corn arepas and tortillas!I bought this camping griddle to use in the house, and it fits nicely across my small stovetop. It's very heavy which makes it hard for me to pull it out and use, so I need my husband's help for that.

It works well. The downside is the width. After the inch for grease trap it is 8.5. Can’t put 2 pieces French toast next to each other.
