After applying a file to the rough edges to make the tools more comfortable in hand, they work and cut just fine. Some of these tools will be designated for root work, and my finer, more well crafted tools will be reserved for manicuring.

For the price they are great. If your looking for something that is very rough but can be refined to work properly its worth it but if you can't work with metal spend the extra money and get a good set.

Bought these for a friend that wanted to get into bonsai trees. Nice set that's definitely had made, and well oiled

Don't waste your money. Description reads that the kit includes Jin pliers, but it doesn't, and mine was missing the little broom as well. Mostly though the tools are just very crude & low quality. Knob cutter blades didn't occluded properly. Leaf trimmer was so coarsely ground and misaligned that they wouldn't even close. Rake is just stamped out and bent to shape. All just very rough. Case had multiple holes & worn thru spots, no doubt from the product being shifted and banged around during storage & shipping which speaks to how well the individual items are NOT anchored down or packed in the case and have continuously beat against one another. Spend more. Get better tools, even if one at a time, and / or wing it with at least better quality scissors & wire cutters, small pruners, etc. till you can upgrade. These are just not going to improve your work at all and are capable of doing some damage ( if you can get them to operate at all !) Oh, and if the person you gifted them to says "thank you, I love them!" They are most likely just being polite.

The leaf shears didn't cut at the end of the scissors. They wouldn't cut cleanly until about a 1/4" back from the tip. One of the most used tools didn't work well. I know I didn't pay $300 for the set, but it was disappointing.

Both of these kits were for my children this Christmas... They both said they worked very well

Paint on tools was chipping off, tools were hard to open and close... and honestly looked like a really old set. Items were sharp and the case was very handy. Because they function (even if harder) I am keeping them but would not buy again.
