Great clear coat protection, even outside!
This is the best clear coat for craft projects I have found. I paint barn quilts and hang them outside and this product has never failed me and dries completely clear. Others I have tried yellow and change the appearance of the paint.

Excellent
I had made a series of plywood characters to put in the yard for the holiday season. After carefully priming and painting the surfaces, I planned to brush on Rustoleum Varathane Water-Based Ultimate Spar Urethane from a quart container to seal the cutouts. Imagine my horror when the urethane-dipped brush SMEARED my paint! It was only the black paint, too, which was so odd.To resolve this issue, I bought a spray can of the same product and used it as a base coat first, then I continued with brushing on the urethane without any issues. I did one coat of the spray, then two additional coats brushed on. I could have used only the spray can for all the coats, but I had already invested in the quart container. And if I was spraying on, I probably would have done four coats total. The satin finish is excellent for the outdoor plywood cutouts - note that a matte finish usually looks hazy, and glossy might be too bling for you lol.

Great Product, Need Better Shipping Packaging
I was unable to find this anywhere in stores so leave it to Amazon to have it! Was exactly what I was looking for and as described. Went on clear and smooth with a foam brush. I was pleased to see that they used some metal clips to keep the lid from popping off, however could have been secured a little better in packaging and there were several dents in the can.

Something is wrong with this polyurethane
Have a look at the pictures. After thoroughly shaking the can, I used this stuff on a finished piece. Fortunately, I was able to wipe it off before it dried. Thinking that maybe I hadn't shaken the can long enough, I shook it for another minute & then tried it on some plain wood flooring pieces. This is the result, white blobs of what is presumably solidified polyurethane all over the wood. Fortunately, I didn't use this on a piece with intricately painted details. The piece I sprayed was a flat color that I was able to repaint to cover the bits of plastic that wouldn't come off of the original piece. This is clearly either a fake product made to look like the real thing or the polyurethane is ridiculously old. This is awful! Thank goodness I tried it on a piece I could easily repair, rather than one of the finely detailed pieces I paint, which is what it was purchased for. I'd be extremely upset if I'd sprayed an elaborate piece of artwork that took weeks to make. Terrible. If anyone has already bought this, I'd highly suggest you try it out on something unimportant before using it on any of your artwork.

Wish I had known about this product before
Easy to apply and really fast drying. I applied it over top of wood stain on a sandbox in a warm dry workshop. It dried so fast that I was able to do a second coat in just over an hour. I think the drying time would definitely depend on the air temperature and humidity. I highly recommend this product.

Great product but some shipping damage.
Have used this products many times before. Dried clear. Be careful not to shake can which introduces bubbles. Cans arrived quite dented and scuffed. Fortunately the safety seals held the lids on the cans.
