Color is fun while it lasts
Safety 8 does it’s job while rappelling. The color doesn’t really matter because most of it has come off after a couple of uses.

Lightweight but solid
Bought for rappelling down with my hunting saddle. Cheaper and I’m more familiar with using this plus cheaper than a madrock. Only gave 4 stars due to not using it yet, but it feels looks and seems solid and I think it will work just fine.

I haven't used this to actually rappel yet but tested it out off a tree in the yard in a Swiss Seat since I didn't feel like digging out my harness. Worked nicely for that. It's a pretty simple piece of equipment, pretty hard to screw up. I'll update after I use it on an actual rappelling trip.

It works... Not much else to say
Construction is nice. And being aluminum it's not very heavy. The coloring seems to be consistent. This is a very basic device, so there's not really much to say. The price was right for me to pick one up. I weight 240 lbs and have used this descender to belay down twice without any issues. I guess the only other thing to mention is that the clip hole was plenty big for my black diamond carabiners.

How to use it!
It seems well built and light weight. I actually purchased it to do some crack and fiberglass work on my swimming pool. The wall on the deep end is somewhat rounded making the use of a ladder very challenging. So i will be using the repelling equipment to lower myself to the area using the the diving board mounts to anchor to and repel my way down to the area needing the sidewall repairs!

Holds up to 5000lb+ logs being dropped from a tree.
Amazing! This thing stood up to 5000Lb+ logs being dropped from a tree and being lowered to the ground. It got so hot from the friction you could not pick it up yet time and time again it never failed. I would definitely trust my life to this!

The loops were large for use with over sized Rappelling Rope, excellent finish allowing for easy detection of stress cracking or distortion.

Pas tellement utilisé
Semble très solide. Par contre je débute dans le domaine de la taille dans les arbres et je cherchais un outil pour le rappel. Je l'ai utilisé plutôt pour le rappel de grosses branches. Je me suis équipé plus tard de prussik, un "Notch Flow Adjustable Rope Wrench" et "Rope Logic FIX Tether - Double Eye" pour grimper en SRT et contrôler sécuritairement la descente.
