Easy to Follow
I am slightly experienced when it comes to sewing, but don’t often work with patterns. This was pretty easy to follow, and I was able to google anything I wasn’t familiar with. The only problem I encountered was that the bodice was too long for my body, and the waist sash is too tall to figure that out late in the process. I wound up having to bake (not literally) the sash into the waist seam in order to shorten the bodice. If I made this again I would do this before I sewed the sash into the side seam. The sash as patterned is really short. I made it ridiculously long so it’s more like an obi, but if you at least want to tie it in back I’d suggest cutting a generous length, pinning the sides to yourself (like, a shirt, not your skin), and tying it how you prefer. Then cut as needed. I’m not confident it can even be double knotted if you cut as directed, and certainly not tied in a bow or anything fancy.

Great first dress pattern
I have mostly made skirts, and this was my first attempt to follow a published pattern to make a dress. it was very clear and easy to follow, great for a beginner like me and I love the end product. It’s my new favorite dress!

Runs much smaller than store bought clothes size
I wear a size 8 or 10 in store bought clothes so I bought this pattern up to a size 14 - and it was actually still too small for me because according to measurements I’m a size 18 or 20 in this pattern. Please note that I altered the pattern myself to be a modified size 18.This pattern is super cute, but I’m glad I’m an experienced sewer for this one …I used lime-green linen which is nice and breathable for summer and travel, but I’ll use double-sided interfacing next time I make this dress in linen - as-directed the facing is floppy in linen because it’s only tacked down at the shoulder seams of the dress. Linen just doesn’t respond to gravity so much.I’m adding small pieces of interfacing to the inside of the linen bodice so I have something to tack that floppy interfacing down to; otherwise I’ll have interfacing IN my face every time I wear this pattern in linen. The fullness and shape of the skirt made it feel almost religious or school-uniform-like, so I hemmed mine as a balloon skirt and shortened it considerably from what the pattern had me cut.All told, I think I can use a lot less fabric for the skirt and some double-sided interfacing next time to save myself some steps in fitting and finishing.Cute dress, a simple 7 pattern pieces. 3 stars only for the pattern instructions recommending linen but not also double-sided interfacing

Total elegantes Kleid, absolut zeitlos
