Why alter the original score for the CD release?
The ORIGINAL SCORE..key word...ORIGINAL score is exceptional..this isn't the original score.I bought this CD for a specific track, the bridge battle track...and to my utter annoyance..the very key parts I liked the most are cut...WHY?!!!I bought this CD for the version I heard in theaters...not this cliff notes version. Very let down my them altering the tracks. Especially not using the original opening theme...instead we get this half@ss generic version.Man, I'am p*ssed.

Enjoyable addition to MI series Captures the spirit of the movies & show
Michael Giacchino's score for Mission: Impossible 3 is an excellent blend of action music and a grat adaption of Schiffen's classic music. As he did with the Incredibles, Giacchino shows the ability to write a classic score that fits perfectly with the film and stands up well on its own. Probably the best of the three Mission scores. Elfman's matched his own style, Zimmer's matched his, but Giacchino's matched Mission:Impossibles.

Fits the film, but boring isolated.
Like most Michael Giacchino scores, the music works fine in the film but is a chore to appreciate isolated. There just isn't anything all that memorable here. I think what worked so well for composers like John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, back in their prime, was how they could craft beautiful, complex and memorable thematic material. I've yet to hear anything like that with Giacchino. For an action film, to learn how to do it right, he should sit down and listen to Goldsmith's score to "Total Recall." Learn what makes this score so remarkable and try to do similar.Another thing I grow tired of is the sappy general moment in the film, such as Tom's CPR sequence, where the film consists of.... a sad piano chord. Then another one. Another one, etc. What fails with this is how CLICHE this is: you can picture the composer, a somber, over-serious look on his face, playing the chord and looking meaningfully at the recording room. It's a lazy way to score a dramatic moment to just pop in a couple chords, but play 'em dramatic and leave it. It's been done too many times (didn't Giacchino do the same gimmick with Rogue One when the star destroyer crashes into the big space donut thingie?) Complex themes, Michael. Give us something to remember, something to hum, somethings that sticks with us. No one leaves a theater humming the slow, moving chords from the CPS sequence.

Lalo Giacchino
Giacchino's done an impressive job weaving his musical style with Lalo Schifrin's original theme and musical approach. I can't quite describe Giacchino's style. He employed a large 115-member orchestra for the score. There are jazzy moments in the score, much like Lalo did in the early M:i TV show. Giacchino's score adds tension to moments and compliments action on the screen. Two examples of his approach are "Evacuation" and "Shang Way Hi". My favorite track is "Shang Way hi" because of the way the music builds to the climatic point where Ethan Hunt has to jump off the roof of a building. That's what I meant by "complimenting the action". Also there are drama/romance piano cues on the album such as "Ethan and Julia".Highlight action tracks on the album include:-Evacuation-Hellicop Chase-Bridge Battle-WW 4 Mins (Dark, tense cue before becoming a bit comedic)If you're a fan of Giacchino, you'll love this score. If you're not, it's worth checking this soundtrack out along with the soundtrack to LOST the ABC TV series. Also, check out Giacchino's work on the Medal of Honor series - this series is becoming rare and expensive fast so get your hands on them!

This is a great Mission Impossible score. Nice work, Giachino!
This is with no doubt the second best Mission Impossible movie franchise score, composed by the talented Michael Giachino (previous works includes Disney's The Impossibles, Alias and others) and may I say that he does a terrific job and deserves all the applauses. The melodies he has reached are exciting and suits the movie style pretty well. I even like this score more than I liked Hans Zimmer's MI-2 work. However, I still prefer Danny Elfman's Mission Impossible score. I totally agree with other reviewers when thay say that this score is "energetic" and "emotional", plus "and incredibly great experience". That's right, I couldn't express myself better.

A Great, Intense Score
Michael Giacchino, who does the music for J.J. Abrams' TV series LOST and ALIAS, has composed a frenetic, energetic, and emotional score that more than adequately drives the pacing and sets the mood for Abrams' entry in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Anyone familiar with Giacchino's music for ALIAS or his score for Pixar's The Incredibles knows he has a flair for writing music appropriate to this genre. He also does a great job of incorporating some familiar themes from the original Mission: Impossible TV series. Sure, some of it is vaguely derivative (of his own work), but it works for the movie and it's also exciting to listen to on its own.

Excellent Score by Giacchino
M:I:III was one of the best action films of the year, and the soundtrack doesn't dissapoint. Mixed on this CD is a colorful rendering of frenzical action cues, licking brass and percussion, love themes, and of course, the old faithful "Mission Impossible" theme. Also impressive are the furied string passages that highly resemble those of John Williams or Jerry Goldsmith.Giacchino may very well become one of the 21st century's great talents, let's hope his career continues as well as it started.
