They are made in China and other overseas locations. But, they are NOT owned by the Chinese! The original Imperial Schrade went bankrupt in 2004, the intellectual rights, but not the factories were bought by Taylor Brands LLC of Tennessee. Who offshored production. In 2016 Smith & Wesson’s Battenfeld Technologies division bought Taylor Brands. Not sure of Smith & Wesson’s intentions on resuming any USA production.

Are the blade made of high carbon steel?

The blades are made of 9cr18mov stainless steel which contains .85-..95% carbon, so technically it is high carbon steel.
