This kit is very well designed. With two options for wings, separate ailerons & rudder, and complex landing gear, it gives a lot of room for options.The engine is detailed enough to be accurate under the cowling. The cockpit is well furnished as well.The only issue is the fit between fuselage shells and cockpit needs fine adjustment to fit correctly and the cowling needs to be trimmed inside to fit onto the fuselage.Other than those minor fit issues which is often expected on most kits, its a fantastic addition to anyones build queue.

Amazing model kit with a lot of attention to detail.Builds very easily and looks great when painted.

Good kit, the best I could find for this plane. Easy to build, only had issues with the wheels, rest was very straight forward.

The kit is great, if you're a moderately experienced model builder, so this isn't a critique against Airfix. But the description by the seller is very deceptive.The ad, at the time I purchased it, says "Airfix Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat 1:72 WWII Military Aviation Plastic Model Kit A02070, Set of 2 LED 158". So I was under the impression I was buying a boxing with two kits in it. Particularly since the price is about double what other boxings of this kit used to sell for, though apparently the price has gone up recently. Airfix does produce double kits from time to time and that's what I thought this was.Another issue I have is the seller name is "inandout_usa", so I thought it was a seller based in the US. Nope, they're in Germany. So it took three weeks in transit.

I am impressed with the detail of this model. I've never seen a wild cat with this much detail thank you very much and I will buy another one

I needed to sand some parts, but it is so good to build. Decals are good as well. two wing options, two decal options, two landing gear options, and two canopy options.

All in all, this is a really great kit for the price, it fits together very well with only minor trimming issues.the only problem I've had with my kit was, the main landing gear struts were broken in 3 different places, and also my open canopy was cracked, maybe due to shipping? Overall a great little kit very nice lines and detail!!

This is probably the best F4f Wildcat available in 1/72 scale, it has a really brutal level of detail, the fit is perfect and the instructions are very clear, the detail in the cockpit and the engine are good and the panels lines are engraved , I recommend this kit without any doubt.Este es probablemente el mejor F4f Wildcat disponible en la escala 1/72, tiene un nivel de detalle realmente brutal, el encaje es perfecto y las instrucciones muy claras, el detalle en la cabina y el motor son buenos y los paneles van marcados hacia adentro, recomiendo este kit sin ninguna duda.

Für ein Absturz Diorama brauchte ich 2 F4F und kauft 2 verschiedene Bausätze 1.Hobby Boss und 2. den Airfix. Der aiix ist um Längen detailreicher in allen Bereichen. Gut gestaltetes Cockpit, sehr gutes detailreiches Fahrgestell, Pilotenfigur und feine Details auf der Aussenhaut. Das alles hat der Hobby Boss so nicht zu bieten. Darüber hinaus kann ich den Airfix mit angeklappten Flügeln darstellen und auch mit eingezogenem Fahrwerk. Aus diesem Bausatz kann man mit einigem Gechick ein gutes Modell bauen. Keine Eipressmarken und keine Grate zu finden, Spachteln müsste man überhaupt nicht. Für diesen Maßstab war ich überrascht über die Details und würde es wiederbauen.

Airfix new moldings are fantastic! This one was released in 2015 and comes together beautifully.I especially appreciate the option of assembling model with wings folded. Nice touch, as the F4f-4 version was the first one to get Sto-Wing ability.Good job, Airfix
