Tomorrowland

For some reason this movie is not available on Disney any longer. I love tomorrowland at Walt Disney World and this brings that area to a new level.This is a great story.

great imagination, unique, fun to watch.

I am a big SF fan (and author) but have been repeatedly disappointed by many of the poorly conceived or made SF films pumped out of Hollywood like water falling from the falls of Niagara. I have become pretty skilled at spotting if a film is worth watching or not within the first 5 minutes. So it with all this in mind that I recommend Tomorrowland. The cast is excellent and so is the acting. The story is novel enough to prevent prediction of the ending. Disney knocked this one out of the park. I am rather surprised it is not better known than it is.

It was entertaining, but very clumsy in its storyline.

There was a time not so very long ago when Americans faced the future with confidence and optimism.We looked to the heavens and wanted to go there.We welcomed people to our shores and didn't talk about building walls to keep them out.In those halcyon days we didn't fear science.Something changed, however. Many people will blame the 9/11 terrorist attacks for that but the truth is its roots go deeper. In the early 70s we started to become more insular, more anxious. Among the signs that this is so: Veterans who had fought for our country in a misguided and unpopular war wound up sleeping on the streets in increasing numbers because they were demonized by those who never served. People began complaining about paying taxes to support what had once been an excellent public school system.We began looking inward, not outward.It wasn't long before we began looking to the heavens not with wonder but with trepidation and a nagging fear about meteors and comets that could wipe out every living thing on the planet.Director Brad Bird misses those earlier days and said one of the reasons he made "Tomorrowland" was because he wanted to recapture that spirit of optimism that was once so prevalent in America.He succeeded, in my opinion.Brilliantly.The story is fairly complex for a science fiction movie aimed, primarily, at younger audiences. It begins in 1964 when a young boy goes to the New York World's Fair lugging a jet pack that he invented but which doesn't actually work. He is transported to Tomorrowland after meeting a young girl, played by Raffey Cassidy, but eventually leaves that fabled land. The story flashes forward to the present day where a young woman - the daughter of a NASA engineer - is doing her best to stop the American space program from being completely dismantled - both literally and figuratively. She, like the young boy so many years before, also finds herself magically transported to Tomorrowland, which exists in another dimension. Back in her own dimension she longs to return to Tomorrowland and winds up meeting the older, cynical version of the young boy who had once gone to the World's Fair with such optimism. It takes some convincing - and an attack by some murderous androids - but eventually the man and young woman set out for Tomorrowland with the help of Cassidy's character.The cast is excellent and features George Clooney, Hugh Laurie and Britt Robertson in addition to Cassidy. Laurie's character delivers a wonderful monologue toward the end of the movie that, I thought, perfectly summed up the film's intent.The cinematography is top notch and the special effects are excellent but not overwhelming. This is a movie that focuses on the story and the characters, not on the CGI, and that is a major plus in my opinion.A wonderful movie, full of hope, with plenty of action and a strong message: "Tomorrowland" is easily worth 5 stars.

Als ich das erste mal von diesem Film hörte, wusste ich nur, dass es ein Zukunftsfilm oder so etwas ist und das er von Disney ist.Ich liebe Filme, die in der Zukunft spielen und etwas mystisches und andere Welten usw. und das alles hat dieser Film.Ein Mädchen, dass sich sehr für die Raumfahrt und Technik interessiert, erhält einen Button als sie aus der Polizeistation kam in einem Umschlag. Als sie ihn berührte war sie augenblicklich in einer anderen Welt und so beginnt das Abenteuer. Die neue Welt war alles wovon sie geträumt hat, jedoch ist die Zeit begrenzt in der neuen Welt, und so versucht sie wieder in diese neue Welt zu gelangen mit der Hilfe, eines Androidenmädchens und George Clooney.Ich habe leider schon lange keinen Film mehr gesehen, der mich derart gefesselt hat, und mir den Mund offen stehen ließ ! Diese atemberaubende Umgebung, diese unglaubliche Vielfalt an Zukunftserrungenschaften und Einfällen in diesen Film sind überwältigend. Es ist fast schon ein Märchen und wer könnte das besser verfilmen als Disney ? Der Film war in keiner Sekunde vorhersehbar und keine Sekunde langweilig. Alleine die Szene mit dem Eiffelturm ist der Wahnsinn ! Wenn ihr euch nur ein bisschen für Zeitreisen, Zukunftsfilme, Märchen oder auf einfach gute Filme steht, dann müsst ihr A World Beyond gesehen haben !Die Bilder sind (jetzt muss ich schon wieder dieses Wort gebrauchen) überwältigend ! Die Zukuftsstadt ist so toll gemacht wie ein riesiger Freizeitpark, mit fliegenden Autos, Schwimmbädern in der Luft wo man hindurch springen kann und coolen Gebäuden. Auch der Ton ist bombastisch und die Explosionen lassen die alten Lautsprecher endlich mal wieder richtig vibrieren ! Die Schauspieler machen auch eine fabelhafte Arbeit und besonders das Robotermädchen spielt sehr gut.Leider gibt es diesen Film nicht als Blu-ray 3D denn er wäre unglaublich geeignet für 3D und deswegen finde ich das um so ärgerlicher, dass Disney ihn nicht in 3D rausbringt, denn soviel ich weiß, wurde er in 3D gedreht und wurde auch in 3D in die Kinos gezeigt ! Bitte Disney bring diesen Film noch in 3D raus das währe wirklich ein Traum !!!!!!Ein kleiner Währmutstropfen ist nur, dass die Blu.ray kein Wendecover hat, damit das FSK Zeichen weg wäre aber das ist man ja gewohnt von Disney.Fazit: Diese Blu-ray läßt kaum Wünsche offen. Bild, Ton und der Film selbst sind einfach überwältigend !!! Wenn ihr ein bisschen auf Sience Fiction Filme steht, müsst ihr einfach diesen Film sehen !! Leider nur in 2D zu kaufen :-(.

Bought for a gift, this Blu-ray Steelbook is very beautiful in its simple design.The blu-ray only offers the same extras as the single editions.Hence the loss of a star.
