Quick read and nice little interpretation of the hit movie
I managed to finish the book in like two days and read most of it in one night. Good little interpretation of the original movie. Enjoyable, quick and lots of details. Good for young Star Wars fans who want to start reading or those that can't get their hands on the movies just yet. It's pretty family friendly and not a lot of violence involved. Normally I'm not a fan of movie novelizations but this is one of the rare exceptions. The books in the original Star Wars trilogy, The Rise of Skywalker novelization, and the Stargate and ID4 novelizations are my favorite of all the novelizations. Other than that, I mostly skip novelizations.Good work, James Kahn.

Great Story, Well Written
I really enjoyed this book, it answered a lot of questions I had about this episode of Star Wars. I appreciated the great story and excellent writing that tied everything together. The episode has action, drama, family intrigue. I would recommend this book for audiences of most ages!

Glorious!!!
A wonderful story ends with great adventure a magnificent redemption. George Lucas' story is adapted very well but with a few inconsistencies that he didn't intend to put to writing. Yet despite these errors the main premise as well as the epic conclusion are preserved very well. Thank You George Lucas. A

A classic, like all the (original) Star Wars books and movies
Loved these books when I was a kid and the movies first came out. Enjoyed reading them again, and my kids didn't need to be pushed to read these books. You get extra details and info when you read, perhaps invented by the author, but it all follows the storyline of the movie. These books are keepers!

Return of the Jedi on CD
I recall listening to the first series on radio in the early 80's and had 1 or 2 episodes recorded on tape. Never thought I'd be able to get 3 complete series on cd!! The infill and background they are able to put in the radio dramatisation is great and does make a difference when watching the films.

A treat for lovers of deleted scenes
This is the original 1983 novelisation of 'Return of the Jedi'. And OK, you could snootily regard it as more a piece of spin-off merchandise than a work of literature. But to be fair to James Kahn, to my mind it's a lot less clunkily written than the novelisations of 'Star Wars' and 'The Empire Strikes Back' (and Episode 4½ 'Splinter of the Mind's Eye'), making a fair stab at fleshing out the characters' feelings. What really may pique the interest of Star Wars fans, however, is the amount of 'deleted scenes' and bits of extra info that the book contains. Amusingly, anyone who'd read this would have experienced huge spoilers for 'The Phantom Menace' and 'Return of the Sith' - the Emperor is named as Palpitine, we learn about Anakin and Obi-Wan duel above molten lava, and more besides. Many scenes from the film are almost twice the length, with a ton of expository dialogue that got cut in the edit. You also learn the names of characters such as Salacious Crumb and Mon Mothra. Just goes to show - if you wanna keep a secret, just hide it in a book.
