Great inexpensive NVMe, just remember to update the firmware
It’s an NVMe, so it’s straight forward, even with half the drive loaded (500gb) I still get the advertised reads and writes on crystal disk. The thing to remember is you won’t notice much if any improvement in boots or loads over Sata6 M.2s or standard SATA6 SSD. I mean I did shave 2 seconds off tbe boot time, but SSD booting is so quick anyways it’s like, not even noticeable. The appeal of NVMe is two fold for most home consumers who aren’t doing something too fancy:Transfer speeds to and from different folders in the system. And less cable management.Mind you, the file transfer perk is really neat if you do have a super fast NAS raid and need to copy to and from it all the time. Decent speeds with out breaking the bank. It’s a great all around product. Now, you will need to update the firmware but crucial makes a simple software utility to get it done. Otherwise it’s gonna give you a scary warning upon boot up. I knew right away it had to do with the SMART/Temp sensing firmware, and that there was no real danger. The firmware update is available, easy to install,All around, works as advertised, has fulfilled its purpose, does what it says. Good value. You can spend more for drives that go the full gen3 speed, and have a DRAM cache and those are fine drives. But this is a fine value. Works great. Cl

Fast and it worked
Very little to say other than it worked fine and is scary fast compared to old fashioned SATA drives. All of our production units now have NVME supported mainboards so when they come in without drives (as seems to be the case these days) we will opt for either Crucial or Samsung drives as they seem to have a nice price point, great reputation and decent reliability factor with reputable RMA and returns (that is if you know how to navigate today's online automated RMA processes). It has been my experience that saving a few pennies by purchasing a no-name or off-brand unit is offset by the pain in the rear factor of nearly no support, shady return policy and higher failure rates. As is my belief, the inverse ratio of difficulty to low price, i.e your pain in the rear goes up proportionately to the ratio of lower price. In my book, stick with known quantities in electronics, even then you have to be careful of conterfeit items. I shy away from a well known auction site because of the rampant proliferation of name brand memory items that are NOT made by manufacturer on the label. They fail quick and when you try to RMA them they are flagged as conterfeit. Caveat Emptor.

AMAZING! Doubled my gaming frames per second!
I recently tried out the new COD Modern Warfare 2 on my RTX 2080 TI. It was fantastic on max settings but only got around 60 or so frames per second. After reinstallation of both my main computer system, I'm sitting on faster booting times on my computer as well as a doubled 120 smooth frames per second on my 120hz monitor. This cheap purchase was a steal for my gaming.Any and all games previously limited by my other drives are now at their top speed. I am jaw dropped and amazed. 10/10, would recommend to all my friend and every cheap gamer out there. I would pay for double the price! 500GB is plenty enough for this great experience and all for a small $40. Well Done!

Write life isn't super great, but they are cheap and fast
I use these as cache drives in my NAS. Not really the intended purpose and for the price I can't complain but every time I log in and look at the life remaining, I get a little sadder.

Pretty easy process if this is the right SSD for your machine.
Make sure what type of drive you are replacing. Check the official specs, better yet, look at the current drive since they sometimes change specs in the middle of a model run. This product is a M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD.It is 'stick-like' instead of a more common 'business card-like' shape. On one end of the drive, there are many tiny gold contacts with a gap towards one edge. If yours has no gap, this is the wrong drive for you. "No gap, no go".Buy a case to hold the SSD. You need it to hold the SSD and connect it on a USB port while it is outside your PC being filled with data. Later, after you install the new SSD, you'll want someplace to hold the old SSD, so you STILL need the case to swap the new for the old, and protect the data on the old drive, which is now a full backup of your data as of the date you did all this. Now, install the new SSD in the holder and plug it into a USB port. Go to the web-site and download the software. Start the software, read and answer the few questions, sit back and relax for about a half hour. Now swap the new and old drive. I use nitrile rubber gloves to do this to avoid static electricity. Otherwise, touch something metal FIRST before touching the SSDs. Close up your computer and turn it on.

HP Optane was killing us
What do you do with a really slow laptop that takes forever to load webpages? If you have the HP laptop with early era Optane drive and a large lethargic 1TB HDD, you just suffer man. Or at least that's my experience.I took a gamble and popped out that sucker. (FIRST DISABLE optane in Windows with the Intel RST application, it's a RAID configuration that will hose you if you don't disable it)I popped this in and crossed my fingers that it would be recognized as a plain old SSD. Relief. It was.I then watched a couple of YouTube videos and this is working perfectly as the sole drive (primary) and that Intel Optane stuff (BIOS, Windows, Intel RST) is a thing of the past. I'm glad that, on my model at least, this was a drop-in replacement for a very s-l-o-w hybrid RAID HDD/SSD that sped everything up.Whew. Glad to get my Dad's Hp working a lot faster with this.
