For Formby Die Hard's
After Reading other reviews for This movie which are quite mixed I have to be honest I Did not find This at all bad. a first for a George Formby movie as our George is playing Two roles. OK its a movie That includes opera Though its a bit like The Mark Brothers classic A Night At The Opera you Don't have to like opera to enjoy That movie. In This one George as a strong leading lady in Linden Travers and he Has met His match with her Highlights of The movie George's Rendition of There is A Tavern In The Town will raise a smile and make you feel Good all over as only a Formby song can Do. Picture Quality Tends to dip from real bright monochrome to a slight darkness But I did not find it any real problem. Not up There with some of His early films But it's no dud neither. for me worth The price alone to see The superb Linden Travers use Her charm on our George Hey It's Getting Five Stars From Me.

a poor vehicle for formby.
i was keen to see "south american george" as it was the only film in which he played two completely different characters. alas, the wait was hardly worth it as this film will go down as one of the weakest in our george's career. for my money, formby failed to convince as the tempermental south american opera singer. seeing his voice being dubbed hardly helps as it was badly done. it just goes to show that it is usually better to stick with a successful format, once it has been discovered and finalised. this film took liberties with formby's format and it didn't pay off. the plot is a poor one as the continuity is all muddled up and so, each scene doesn't make a lot of sense. the songs aren't that much to boast of either, which is a real shame as sometimes they can partially save a film from being a complete disaster. not this one though. i only recommend this film if you are like me, a formby completist.
