Good idea badly executed.
I think someone needs to go back to the drawing board on this device. For those of us that don't have Airprint printers, we're left wanting when we want to print from our IOS devices. Yes, there's Printopia, but that requires you to leave your Mac running all the time. The other alternative is to replace your printers for newer models. No thanks. Enter from stage left that xPrintServer. It allows you to print from any computer or IOS device without having the printers tethered to an always-on computer. That's where the good news ends. For reasons I don't understand, the server will arbitrarily just stop working. By that I mean that even though the device still recognizes the attached printer, jobs that are sent to it vanish from the queue and never appear on the printer. The only fix is to delete the printer from the xPrintServer, delete the printer from your computer, and unplug the printer from the device. Then you plug the printer back into the device, have the device discover and add the printer again, and add the printer back to the computer. If this only happened once, fine, but it happens just about every other day as though it's scheduled. My other complaint is that it doesn't treat all printers equally. Case in point: My HP OfficeJet 7210 takes on a whole new personality. It doesn't keep it's right margins, and it doesn't do two-sided printing properly (I have added that capability with the HP attachment). The pages will not print on the long side, only the short side, which means two-sided pages are upside down on the second side. I also use a Brother 2140 Laser Printer, and I have no problems with it. So, in order for me to use the OfficeJet as an Airprint printer, I have to connect it via Printopia. Why did I bother to waste my money on this thing.I gave this two stars rather than one, because it does half the job for me, but considering the price, I probably should give it no stars.PROS: Makes any printer Airprint-compatible.CONS: Doesn't work properly with all printers, even though they are on the company's compatibility list; expensive.RECOMMENDATION: Save your money until you have enough to replace your printer with a new one.

Works "auto-magically"
We own two of these (so far) in our enterprise and they work perfectly. It's truly plug-and-play. They can be attached to a standard 2 or 4 post rack using the included bracket and screws. It would be considered 'Zero U' because it attaches neatly and unobtrusively to the side of the rack, and does not occupy a 'space'. The device can 'optionally' be configured to rename the printers. It even broadcasts the printer's Duplex capability and offers it to the iOS client.Installation note:Some Wi-Fi (access points) "routers" block "multicasting", which fouls up Apple's AirPrint protocol (by fouling up the Bonjour discovery protocol). This is more common in business networks with 'guest' access policies, guest firewalls and/or so-called 'Client isolation'. This is not a problem with the xPrintServer. If everything doesn't work 'auto-magically' you will want to look at your Wi-Fi policies and settings first.

I unplug it and my network runs fine.
Worked for about 10mins and then they replace it. It still doesn't work on large networks and now it shuts down my router trying to get an IP. I unplug it and my network runs fine.

Its Ok, not what it should be for the price.
I like the idea of being able to print wirelessly, especialy by cell phone and tablet. Works very well with XP, works OK with Windows 7, does NOT work well with Windows 8. Very easy to set up. Can only print by cell and tablet if using Apple i products, otherwise you will have to buy a compatible print software for android OS If wanting to print from them.

I can print to Zebra LP2844 over the network with Lantronix xPrintserver Office
I have a bank of several Zebra LP2844 printers that I have been using for a few years across multiple workstations. I had been using them with success using Windows Printer Sharing across my network. Since integrating a Mac into my network, Windows printer sharing didn't work for the Mac, so I started looking for a USB print server. Zebra does offer a print server for the Zebra LP2844, Zebranet 10/100 Printserver... but with several Zebras, that was an expensive proposition, even if I found of them used on xBay. Careful study of Amazon reviews for other USB print servers left me feeling skeptical, and although others like the Monoprice Networking 4 Port USB 2.0 Print Server... had an attractive price point, reviews didn't mention Mac Compatibility, limited me to 4 printers, and required additional software to function. I went with the Lantronix because it claims Mac compatibility and had a long list of supported printers, including the Zebra. One other main consideration is it must be easy to use, and it must be transparent, because my wife, who is not technically inclined, uses the printers more often than I do. If a problem arises, her workflow would stop until I could troubleshoot and repair the problem, which could take hours if I am out in the field.Enter the Lantronix xPrintServer Office Edition. Zebra printers are on the xPrintServer compatibility list, so I decided to give it a shot. Although it claims it can support unlimited printers, the xPrintserver only has one USB port, so I went with the AmazonBasics 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub... to add more ports. The xPrintserver setup was mostly painless. I plugged it in the network and followed the setup instructions. The method to discover the IP address of the xPrintServer is unusual, though, you must enter the serial number to a page on the Lantronix website to reveal its ip address. After that, I logged into the printserver, connected the USB hub, plugged the Zebra printers to the hub one-by-one and configured them. I added them first on the xPrintServer, then added them in Windows Device Center.Setup was mostly painless on the Windows side. I already had the drivers because they were installed by USB before. After configuring them on the xPrintserver, the Zebra printers were immediately available on the network and I had no trouble setting them up in Windows. They work properly with the software I use: web-based printing, printing Adobe PDF files, and Adobe Photoshop. I am confident without a doubt they will print to my Zebra printers from any other Windows software I try.Setup on the Mac has not been so easy. Although the Mac (OS X Mountain Lion) immediately recognized the printers, and the printer control panel allowed me to add them, the Zebra didn't print the test page or a test document from the Mac. Zebra doesn't offer Max OS X drivers for the LP2844, but they claim to work using CUPS. So far, I have been unable to get them to print, but that is because I put my time back into actual work rather than troubleshooting, so I put it on the back burner. I am sure that I will be able to figure it out, and when I do I will come back to report this in my review.--- UPDATE 1 ---After countless hours troubleshooting Mac Printing to the Zebras, either directly or via the Lantronix, I removed the Mac from my workstation, because it couldn't get the job done. Understandably these Zebra printers are legacy devices, but despite CUPS printing, they wouldn't work properly. It didn't help that Zebra doesn't provide updated drivers for the Mac. This fail wasn't the fault of Lantronix or the Mac -- it fed the printers through the network and the Mac could see them, they just wouldn't print properly under any configuration. They didn't even print in Windows 7 installed in Parallels Desktop, because they are dependent on proper configuration on the Mac side first. The Mac has been removed from the office and installed on my children's' desk.I have not tried iPad or iPhone printing, I don't have a use for that, but for the review's sake, I will try this out and update my review when I do.Minus 1 star for the cost, plus the need to buy a separate USB hub. It's a little expensive if you're on a budget, but with so much invested in the Zebra printers already, I needed a solution that: (1) works without fail, (2) works automatically, (3) works with Mac (it does, just not with Zebra LP2844), and (4) allows for future additions. So far, xPrintServer has come through and I feel I got what I paid for. I probably could have gone with the Lantronix xPrintServer Home Edition... to save a few bucks, but I went with the Office Edition for its advanced features (see the Lantronix website for a feature comparison) and growth potential.--- UPDATE 2 ---I have known about this since the beginning, but I felt it was important enough to come back and enter it in my review, as this is material. For my Zebra printers at least (I don't have any other printers on the Lantronix), only one print job will run at a time. So if I print a long run on one printer, then go to print a long run on a second printer, the second printer will not begin printing until the first print job completes. I can't say if this is an OS issue, a Bonjour issue (Lantronix uses Apple Bonjour) or a Lantronix issue. I'll have a look at the settings and report back.---Despite the Mac printing situation, I consider the Lantronix xPrintServer Office a win for my small office.

This product was obsoleted by lantronix and has no support
All of the support manuals, quick start and third party videos are obsolete. Lantronix obseleted this product some time ago. That means no support, no driver updates and no help. It’s an expensive solution that used to be great but now you need to be an expert user just to get it connected.
