Seaforth World Naval Review 2021

If you have read and liked the previous editions of Seaforth’s “World Naval Review” you will like the 2021 version. I appreciate the editor and publisher’s continued efforts to bring this annual naval review to the market. My favorite part is the World Fleet Reviews, which takes up 81 pages out of 192 pages. This section provides useful charts showing changes in national fleets strengths and types of major vessels. The section on Asia and the Pacific is particularly useful in getting the latest additions to the People’s Liberation Army Navy and what Japan, Republic of Korea, and Australia are doing in response. I found the section on the Nigerian Navy to be a curiosity piece, but it is worth a read just to see what a sub-Saharan African fleet looks like and its operational challenges. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in contemporary naval developments.

It's good book

Showing my age, I can't think of any similar and affordable publication on naval affairs since the 1970's. I have every volume and the 2021 edition includes the usual mix of well illustrated articles on both focussed and more general topics. The top article for me was about the America Class. I was hoping to be impressed by the Nigerian Navy Fleet review, but it was rather a history lesson and the current navy is - as the article ultimately admits - essentially a "constabulary force". As ever the technical reviews by Richard Scott and Norman Friedman provide insight for anyone prepared to make an effort dive in to the detail.

A very useful update on one of my favourite interests, No longer directly available to me from Amazon, had to go via affiliated Vendor. A step too many, but this vendor delivered to my satisfaction, so all in all, a happy result.

very interesting read on the worlds navies and very good articles on various naval matters , if your interested in naval trends then this is a very good start for your studies.
