A Magnificent Alice
I started my love affair with Alice and Lewis Carroll's brilliant use of language when I was seven years old and my dad gave me my first copy of the books (I still have that copy, dad.). Through the years, I've aquired many different editions of Alice even copies illustrated by wonderful artists other than the great Tenniel. This particular edition of ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND & THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS is a feast for the eyes as well as the mind and heart. In a beautiful slip-cover with happy Mad Tea Party art decorating it, and with the sumptuous large edition with many color illustrations (the best I've seen and I have at least 4 copies that have colorized Tenniel) the stories feel brand new. I started reading immediately and it took me back to that very first time I discovered my way into Carroll's masterpiece. This is a boon to anyone who loves Alice or collects fine books.

Beautiful edition of a classic story of nonsense and whimsy; makes a great addition to any personal library or a thoughtful gift
This review is specifically for the penguin hardcover cloth-bound classics edition (white with pink flamingos)!Naturally, the tale of Alice in Wonderland (told in two books; Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass) is definitely a fun, unique tale that appeals to children and adults alike, so of course I wanted to own a quality copy of it! I like how this edition contains both books and is hardcover with a simple cover design that looks timeless and elegant on my bookshelf. The book is full of useful notes and information in edition to having the tale; plus it contains the classic illustrations too! The paper is very high quality, the printing very attractive, and overall it was well worth the $10 I spent on it. I thought it was such an attractive edition that I bought one for my sister, who is a collector of the various editions of this tale. I've no complaints except that I don't really care for how rough the fabric is; it's not very nice to hold in your bare hands in my opinion, and it makes a sound when it's placed on the shelf next to other cloth-bound hardcovers from the penguin classics series, so those are two things to keep in mind. I personally would have preferred either a softer fabric or for the books to have been bound in hard-backed pleather.

Beautiful book
I love the color and the cover material. It’s not a hard cover but it’s also not paper, more like a smooth plastic (hard to describe). The detail on the outside is nice and I love the attached gold bookmark. All of the print in mine is fine and not smudged.

DO NOT BUY THE EBOOK EDITION!
The kindle ebok version of this edition is an absolutely worthless machine transcription, which was obviously never even briefly proofread by a human. I have included a picture of the first page. Just in the first paragraph "a book" is mistaken for "e-book" not once but twice. The mistakes are nonsensical, make the book imposibleto read, and there are dozens on every single page. DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!

POCKET SIZED BOOK - VERY SMALL!!!!
UPDATE - I ultimately ended up returning this as I had purchased it as a gift and the book is advertised as having incredible, original artwork. You would need a microscope to view the tiny illustrations. I was extremely disappointed though I doI blame myself; I guess I was not paying attention to size. Just note that this edition is barely bigger than my hand. This is more or less a pocket sized volume. The illustrations are REALLY tiny as is the book itself. I had ordered for a Christmas gift for someone else and was really shocked and disappointed to see it was not a regular sized book. The reviews were all so high and no one mentioned or complained about the book being so tiny.

Lewis Carrol wrote a charming immortal story
Rating: 5.0/5.0First I want to talk about this beautiful edition of the book released by Barnes & Nobles. It is a purple/pink leather bound with the edges in silver color and it has lots of beautiful illustrations that helps a lot in understanding the story better. The papers are thick and very durable and made of great quality. The book has two stories Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I have read the first many years back but it is the first time I read the second one.The story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is such a delight to revisit again. It is as charming as it was when I read it first time, maybe I am loving it even more today. It is funny, colorful and sometimes dark if you think of it. I absolutely adore the curiosity of Alice regarding her surroundings and love it when she keeps talking to herself and reacting to that! The characters in both stories are so well crafted, each and every character of them. I love the first story more and I would give it a complete five star while the second one is more of a three and half or four star but still it has its own charm as well.Although I love Disney's anime film and also Johnny Depp's movie but I still feel that Alice in Wonderland has not been turned into a feature film that is true to the book. I would love to see that happen in the future. This classic is one of those which is still regarded as one of the best adventure books that is enjoyed by children and adults equally. Lewis Carroll's story is truly an immortal one.

Truly Incredible!
As a child, I would often fall asleep listening to various adaptations of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I came to love the story and its characters, but have never, since entering adulthood, considered this book from a literary perspective. Perhaps, in my mind, it will always be a children’s book; after all, its protagonist is a child, and it considers such imaginative creatures and scenarios that it would seem out of place alongside the Victorian realism of its time. I was therefore surprised when I noticed this book, along with Carroll’s Through the Looking-Glass, on my reading list for this university term, but having now appreciated Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as an adult, I realise my mistake: whilst it was once written for children, it has long since been considered an adult read, dealing with issues and themes that are considered in many other Victorian novels, such as Brontë’s Villette, and Dickens’ Great Expectations.I’m going to be honest: I read this book in a day, and look forward to getting stuck into Through the Looking-Glass as soon as I can, because, when it really comes down to it, Lewis Carroll knows how to tell a good story. There’s nothing quite like these books when it comes to imagination, not even Terry Pratchett’s or J. R. R. Tolkien’s works. They’re fantastical, unbelievable, and somehow mesmerising, if only because they are just so different to what we are used to reading. So, whether you’re already familiar with Alice’s adventures or not, I thoroughly recommend you give this book a read, and see whether you think it is only meant for children. It’s very short, and each chapter is only a couple of pages long, which makes it easily accessible and a good read for when you only have a few short breaks in a day. Read it to analyse it, or read it for the sake of a good story; either way, read it!

Lovely stories but the edition made my reading experience very dull
Reading a book recently about childhood reading, I realised that I had never actually read Alice in Wonderful so resolved that I would and bought this book.I suspect this edition would be great if you were going to be studying the text but the introduction and the notes influenced my reading experience very negatively and I didn't get an much joy from the story as I expected. There is wonderful elements to these stories but I think they should be read from a book designed for children rather than a book which is presented as a dry academic text book. I think I wanted colourful pictures and a larger font to get the childlike enjoyment that I hoped for.

Not the illustrated version
I picked this up via a search for an illustrated version, which brought up a hardback copy but I wanted paperback as it’s for a decoupage project. This was listed as an alternative version of the hardback one, which explicitly stated it was the illustrated version, however, it appears that that only related to the hardback. I found this somewhat misleading as I would have thought that only other versions that were identical to the listed one would be attached to the listing in that way.

FAMOUS FOR BEING FAMOUS
This is one of the books which we all think we have read. Most of the time we know the headline bits. The true pleasure is to just read both stories and enjoy the simple pleasure of a story that goes where it will, written by a very clever creative mind. An adult who can be child like and silly. Both are odd but there's nothing wrong with that. Then if you want to there is the introduction and all the detailed notes which take up more pages than the stories themselves. Perfect for the geek, but just read the stories and enjoy.

Lovely prints, just a few faulty pages
I havent read the book yet, but I'll comment and say the print is perfect, there are lovely illustrations (not so many but still some), but i did get a faulty few pages where it may not have been trimmed properly. I dont mind too much as the rest of the book is just fine, so I'll trim the 2 pages myself. Im excited to give the book a read, but when it comes to Alice In Wonderland, a review can be very opinionated so if you do buy the book i hope you love it! :)
