Appropriate for all ages child through senior adult. Has storytelling tips + resources, each story provides useful questions for reflection, the themes & principles covered, a story map (synopsis of key plot points).I ordered this for readings to groups during online zoom events -- the book was recommended to me, am VERY happy with purchase.

Good text, accurate update?
Easy layout, helpful discussion questions. I questioned how much the stories had been modified and if her updates had missed essential qualities of the original folk tales.

If you're looking for that little nugget of a story ...
If you're looking for that little nugget of a story - something to leave your audience in a quiet, reflective mood, this is the book you are looking for. Also, the tools (themes and story maps) are extremely helpful for beginning tellers and the sources will help all tellers expand their research. This is a book I would use to teach storytelling - at all levels.

Wonderful stories; excellent resource for storytellers
Telling stories in front of a large group has been really challenging for me. For years I found it hard to let go of a script and really *tell* the story; I worried I'd get it wrong. This book has changed that.Between the author's "tips for telling", and the story maps provided for each tale, I've been able to visualize the story, feel comfortable making it my own, and confident enough to tell the story without notes. I can see a different level of engagement in my audience as well. Each tale also has a "for reflection" section, and I use those to pose wondering questions to my audience, as I wrap up.The stories themselves are full of meaning for all ages, and come from all over the world. They are searchable by theme (I often cross reference), and by Unitarian Universalist principle. This book has honestly been a game changer.
