geog.2 Student Book (NC New Geography)

Great condition

Our son is currently studying KS3. This fifth edition of Geog.2 bu Oxford University Press is part of a set of three books. Each one aimed at the differing set bands and the individual capability. The .2 is the middle in ability with the Geog.1 being the higher level and most similar to GCSE level work in attainment and layout. The third in the set the Geog.3 delivers the same curriculam in the thourough manner that this series is known for but with a softer touch. This is not a workbook. It is the textbook. Though there is little section on each page to test the students understanding on the topic. There are no provided answers for these sections. The supporting for the Geog.2 is sold separately which I have linked here. . You need to bear in mind that the workbook does not have the answers at the back, rather inconveniently, they too are sold separately in yet another book which is linked here. Personally, I'm not a fan of purchasing a text, question and answer book for each of my children, I tend to steer towards books with Q&As in one, to lessen the burden to my pocket - otherwise it can quickly get out of hand. Especially when they finish one prep book and want to move to another brand (which has happened quite often with home study in Covid-19!). Each level is provided with online resources via Kerboodle for online lessons, resources and assessments; plus an online student book which may need to be granted via your school's account to the site. China The rear of the book has: • Glossary of question format terms. • Ordanance Survey Symbols • Map of the British Isles • Map of the World • Glossary • Index Altogether a very well laid our and effective book for ages 12+ - my son's age - which is perfectly illustrated with language that's in keeping with appealing to the younger generation in this latest edition, without appearing old fashions or drab - like some of the textbooks I used back in my heyday. 5 stars

This is a colourful Geography book, packed with lots of interesting information, covering the following contents:- Fieldwork & GIS Population Urbanisation Coasts Weather & Climate Climate Change Asia & China Each section gives the student the chance to test their knowledge from what they have read in the chapter. At the back of the book there are examples of Ordnance Survey symbols. Maps of the British Isles and the Map of the World. Also there is an excellent Glossary and an Index. I feel this “geog.2” book will be a great help to my 12 year old Grandson

As my son is moving from KS2 into KS3 education, I thought I'd grab this book as an aid to his learning. The truth be told, I got for me as much as for him, as I love these sorts of books, finding them very interesting. This is part two of a three-part set on then fascinating and varied subject of geography. This particular volume covers eight subjects: Fieldwork and GIS, Population, Urbanisation, Coasts, Weather and Climate, Climate Change, Asia and China. I believe these books are intended to be used in conjunction with accompanying teacher's guides and workbooks in a classroom setting. However that doesn't mean that they are worthless used without this material as there is a lot to be gleaned from them. Each section presents it's subject in a clear and concise manner, with many accompanying photos and illustrations. The language used is appropriate for its intended audience and strikes the right tone in terms of formality and authority. The images used do a fine job in illustrating and supporting the text and often convey a lot of the information better than the text could. The emphasis is very much on active learning, to that end, every couple of pages or so, there is a section for students to solidify and put into practice what they have just learned, with sections of questions that both test what they have just read and challenges them to interpret information provided in tables, maps and graphs. Now, the answers to the questions aren't provided in the book, and I'm assuming that these can be found in the teacher's guide. Overall, I think this is a well presented book, packed with information that I am confident in. It uses the help of organisations such as the Field Studies Council and OS to ensure that it is authoritative and is of value to the student.

Detailed but accessible book covering all the geography topics needed for GCSE (ks3) My eldest has just selected Geography for his gcse option so this book is handy to have available for him to refer back to over the next couple of years, when covering certain topics to solidify knowledge or clarify anything that’s not totally understood in class. The book is easily set out to find what you need, and includes plenty of diagrams and illustrations alongside so it is not too dense and hard going

Been looking for a geography book for quite some time now and this book is such a lovely book I recommend this to other homeschool mums who are looking for something that can be use as group lesson with multiple siblings or children

A thin A4 book which is heavy on images. Great section on GIS with examples on crime and gp surgeries. Great informative text book in a series of three.
