Sherwood Seawater Strainer 1-1/4 inch

Looks very nice. It will save you an engine from overheating if you suck up sand or debris from river or lake. This doesn't come with the connectors. You can go online to order the 1 1/4 straight or elbow barbed connectors, which you will need. Not sure why they don't include those but they're about $24 for 2 elbow and 2 straight with shipping. I got 4 for any type of application but I won't need all 4. I'm going to install soon and it's not that big of a job for a beginner. Good investment for sure. Can be mounted upside down or straight up but not sideways. There is an arrow on bottom for flow direction, so make sure that's correct when you install.

Installed after the raw water pump on my Cummins marine engine, it makes finding and removing broken impeller vanes quick and easy.

Must have for your boat! There were some flash floods at Lake Powell this summer and it put a lot of organic material in the water. We plugged up the V drive and oil cooler exchanger with small debris and had to back flush it all out. My old boat had one and I did not see the need to put one on. cause I never really seen anything in it. My friends packed their impeller on the Malibu and it was overheating. There were boats getting towed all over the lake that weekend. I cut my hands installing it on those stainless grommets which straighten the female threads. Thats why I dinged it one, they should have removed the burs during manufacturing so do not grip those when installing the elbows (or whatever you are threading) we also have the quagga mussels so I recommend installing it upside down if you have room so it will drain automatically.

Great product, easy to install, if u have a older ski boat or a boat that doesn't have one don't wait until you overheat on the water or even worse it'll save you when you suck something up

I have this strainer in the water supply side of my boat sea water cooling circuit. It work well , is constructed well, and has good flow. One improvement for it is to supply a removal wrench for this size. No specific size wrench is available.

Works like a charm. We have a moomba ski boat and live in a muddy lake. Lots of debris when it rains which has caused some damage to the engine. Put this on and every few days we dump the debris and am shocked at the amount of stuff it collects so it doesn’t run through the engine. This strainer is a must for all inboard boats!

I use this on my boat as a strainer for the water pump. I cut the line between the water pump and the oil cooler, used a couple Spears 1436 Series PVC Tube Fitting Adapters and placed the strainer in-line. I probably should have used a similar strainer with smaller diameter fittings, but this setup seems to be working fine for me. As others have noted, it did not come with the pictured mounting plate, but in my case, I did not need it.I also used some Dow Corning Silicone Valve Lubricant & Sealant 111 around the o-ring seal.
