STUNNING LIVE BROADCAST RECORDING FROM EVERONE S SECOND FAVOURITE BAND TO FEATURE PHIL LYNOTT Formed in 1984 as the brainchild of - by then - ex-Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott, following the break-up of Lynott s legendary former group, the birth of Grand Slam can be traced back to the solo band Lynott formed during his July/August 1983 a tour of Scandinavia. This line-up featured Magnum keyboard player Mark Stanway, Thin Lizzy members Brian Downey (drums) and John Sykes (lead guitar) plus rhythm guitarist Doish Nagle (ex of The Bogey Boys). When Thin Lizzy completed its farewell tour in September 1983, Lynott continued working with this configuration as a band project that eventually became known as Grand Slam. Sykes departed following an offer to join Whitesnake and was replaced with ex-Stampede guitarist Laurence Archer. Prior to the band's first shows, Downey left to be replaced by Robbie Brennan. With the line-up of Lynott, Stanway, Archer, Nagle and Brennan, Grand Slam played its first show in Waterford, Ireland on 26 April 1984. The band's live set contained a mixture of new songs, written by various combinations of Lynott, Stanway and Archer, as well as songs from Lynott's solo career plus selected Lizzy songs. Grand Slam toured extensively in the UK and Eire throughout 1984, with shows favourably received by both audiences and media. The band also appeared at high-profile festivals such as Crystal Palace (as special guests of Status Quo), Nostell Priory (as special guests of Marillion) and the Kerrang Weekender festival in Great Yarmouth. It is the extraordinary show that Phil and Grand Slam put on in Great Yarmouth on 12th October 1984 that is the subject of this new CD release, a performance recorded for live FM broadcast at the time ad which today still sounds as fresh, dynamic and exciting as the day it was recorded more than 35 years ago. Available here for the first time, this release is certain to become a live favourite among Lynott, Lizzy and Grand Slam fans and collectors the world across. 1. Yellow Pearl 2. Nineteen 3. Harlem 4. Parisienne Walkways 5. Cold Sweat 6. Sisters of Mercy 7. Crime Rate 8. Military Man 9. Dedication

Grand Slam was an excellent band; if you like Thin Lizzy, you'll love this.
I've been a Lizzy fan for a long time because when I was in my mid-teens I heard Thunder and Lightning on the radio. You know I was born in 1970, so when they released their last album, I'd just started to listen to rock music. Phil Lynott's band had really special melodic, ear-catching, but still very heavy songs and I also loved Gary Moore's Run for Cover with Phil's contribution. Those days I didn't know that one of my favourites Military Man was a Grand Slam song.Later I collected all Lizzy materials and I also managed to get Phil and Gary's solo albums. I loved the Irish traditional music tunes in their music more and more.About a month ago I saw this special CD on Amazon and ordered it because I love anything from Phil Lynott. He was an excellent composer, lyricist, and bass guitarist. He was a real legend. His addiction to drugs ruined his health too early, and he died very young, but his music is eternal and even this CD version of a radio show proves what a brilliant musician he was. There's the song Yellow Pearl from one of his solo albums, there is some Thin Lizzy material, but most of the songs are Grand Slam numbers. The quality is quite good and I can only recommend buying this CD. If you like Phil's music, you'll enjoy listening to it.

Great release.
I was intrigued when I saw this release advertised. The quality is excellent for the age of the recording. Who would have expected to see Phil Lynott performing in Great Yarmouth at a holiday camp..even though it was a music festival!? Cover solo tracks, Lizzy tracks and Grand Slam tracks. Good to hear Phil again going through a much neglected period of his career and only a couple of years before his untimely death. What a loss to the music world.

Sound Quality
Great Sound quality. Way better then the other Grand Slam releases. Good songs and could of had potential but by then Phil was gone vocally physically and mentally. It really was very sad and what could of been if only he would of turned his life around.

Grand Slam Dunk
This band had the potential to become huge and on this cd, you can see why. After so many record labels had declined to sign them. They sadly called it a day and this is what we missed. This was a band that had more than Phil Lynott songs. Sadly in the immortal words of Jim Bowen, 'Look at what you could have won'

Not Phil Lynott,s best.
I was really looking forward to getting this CD. However I was really disappointed when I listened to it . The sound is very tinny and most of the tracks are poor quality ,considering Phil was such an amazing Rock Star and show man.

Slammin’ It Home!
I saw Grand Slam at Eastbourne Winter Gardens and whilst its not Lizzy, it was a great gig! I taped this live concert off the Tommy Vance Radio 1 Rock Show a long long time ago...now lost. The problem with Grand Slam recordings up to now is that they’ve never been great quality. However the original FM broadcast has really captured it. I love it and it sounds rich and well balanced. Enjoy!

Grand Slam live at their very best
Five stars purely because it’s Phil. Sound is excellent and superior to the previous live cds by Grand Slam. Good mix too - can hear all the musicians clearly. Overall a great reminder of Phil’s band after Lizzy - I recommend this to all his fans!! Buy it!
