South Beach Diet Meal Bars, Chocolate Chunk, 1.58 Ounce, 5 Count

Both my husband and I began the South Beach Diet and, after losing a combined 30 pounds after Phase One, quickly began looking for easier meal options that still lined up with the South Beach rules. Needless to say, we were thrilled to see the commercials for the "new" South Beach bars and snack and grabbed a variety of options on our next grocery run. While all the items we tried were good, these are the only ones we have repurchased in bulk.While we originally bought the chocolate chunk bars, they weren't available on Amazon so we chose these - and we personally find the chocolate peanut butter to taste MUCH better than the chocolate chunk. They are softer, creamier, and just generally yummier. Buying in bulk prevents us from having to add up how many boxes we need to buy on each grocery run, and saves us money with Subscribe and Save. We mostly use these as meal replacements or on-the-go snacks; perfect for when I'm running late to work and don't have time to make breakfast, or when my husband will be out for most of the day and wants a snack to keep on hand. While it's probably best to grab a single box first to make sure you like them, I still think these bars are yummy enough for anyone.As far as eating them while on South Beach, we aren't following the "rules" that well now that we are on Phase Three, but we haven't gained any weight back either, and we are content with that. These have enough carbs and sugar that we really only use them as a meal substitute; I think they are too heavy for snacks on top of meals, but that's just my opinion.

I love these South Beach Diet Meal Bar, Chocolate Peanut Butter, 5-Count (Pack of 8) . I just ordered another batch. I find the flavor and texture to be very good. I'm surprised with the negative reviews.Each bar is 180 calories contains just 6 grams of fat per serving and 0 trans fats, 12 grams of protein, 9 grams of fiber, and 23 essential vitamins and minerals. They are very convenient when you're on the run.I injured my knee 6 months ago. I needed surgery and had that in April. I wanted to lose weight prior to my surgery. I knew my knee would do better without the extra weight. I used the South Beach diet. Prior to the surgery I did not use the bars. I managed to lose about 20 pounds. After the surgery my husband had to prepare meals. At breakfast I had the bar. Lunch he would prepare a SB style meal. I had South beach meals prepared in the freezer for dinners. 8 weeks later I had lost another 10 pounds. All of my weight loss was without working out. I have to say I'm very pleased with the results.

These bars are one of the best tasting bars that also contain loads of vitamins. I would recommend these for anyone looking for daily essential vitamins. 50% vitamin A, 100% of vitamin C and E. 20% or more of just about every other vitamin. But as I stated in the title of the review, the price has increased regularly over the past 6 months. Great news to anyone who has not noticed that Walmart, everyones favorite competitor has once again started to supply the New South Beach diet Meal Bars at a fraction of the cost, only 5.98 a box! Compared to Amazons price of over 7.00 a box! I hope you have a Walmart in your area. I hope you find this helpful. I would hope that Amazon would also realize they are going to have to lower their price if they want to sell to more consumers who are looking for a good deal!

Ive used these off and on for years and they work well with my IBS and recently type 2 Diabetes in moderation. HOWEVER, I was very disappointed that in the last shipment the bars were smaller than the usual 1.76 oz I have bought from Amazon and other's over the years. They are the same price, well the case went up with the last shipment and now they are 1.58 OZ ... cost more and get less. NOT GOOD !!!

The previous version of these meal replacement bars were amazing ... better tasting, better texture (a bit crunchier, kind of like a rice crispy treat), and healthier, with less sugar.The new version is ok - I think it is better than most meal replacement bars from a taste-to-health ratio stand point.But they are definitely not as good as previous version. New version has more sugar, a weird soft/chewy (but in a bad way) texture, and a bit of an after taste. I don't know what was wrong with the last recipe. Please bring it back!

I have tried MANY meal bars in my time here on earth but these have got to be the best out there. I got them free on my Kroger app on a promotion and have been buying them ever since. They are larger than any meal bar out there and it does satisfy. I always have a big glass of water with it to make me more full. Since I have been using them about 2 months as a substitute meal, I have lost about 4 pounds. Very happy and will continue to use them even after I am happy with my weight.

I recently began buying the South Beach Snack Bars. The Meal Bars have a bit more calories, protein, & fiber. They are very filling. I don't like the taste and texture of most meal replacement bars, but these are very good on both counts. It's like eating a candy bar, but it satisfies cravings along with appetite and nutritional needs.

I used to buy these regularly at BJs in a multi pack box, but then they stopped carrying SB products. The chocolate peanut butter ones were always my favorite. I haven't been able to find them for a long time so when I saw them on Amazon, I jumped on them:) Eagerly awaiting their delivery.I hope they travel well, as when I purchased a box of Atkins bars, the chocolate looked as if it had been left in too high a temperature and was all discolored.I will update the review when they arrive.Jan 18, 2012They just arrived today, and I'm sooooo disappointed. They're not at all as I remember. Left a weird aftertaste in my mouth. They're not made by Kraft anymore, either. Even the texture is different. They used to be nice and crispy, but now they're just - odd.I have 39 more of these to go:(
