Beautiful, fat, juicy cactus pad!
Four week update: We have a little baby bloom! I'm going to re-pot it because I realize now it's a bit too deep in the soil. But it's thriving despite being planted incorrectly! Great plant purchase, will definitely buy from this seller again! Two week update: My pad has sprouted nice, solid roots and seems happy! There's now a little bulge at the top...hoping it's the beginning of my first bloom. Stay tuned. This is my first cactus, but based on everything I've read, this is a perfectly healthy, nicely calloused cactus pad. It arrived in NE Florida from AZ three days earlier than expected in beautiful condition...no shriveling or bruising whatsoever. If it dies, it'll be my fault, not the seller's...and I will certainly buy another and try again! Will provide progress updates if possible. FYI-DO NOT cut corners on gloves! I'm so glad I bought a pair of leather cactus/thorn gloves before it arrived. WEAR THE GLOVES WHILE UNBOXING! It's nicely wrapped in newspaper, but no matter how carefully you open (I did it in the kitchen sink), those little hair-like spines that collected during travel will spill out and stick to everything!

waste of money
All the seller did was deprive the cactus of water...so when you order one or more like I did, you go oooh, cool looking cactus. One was blue, the other a deep purple. That's just cool, I couldn't wait to plant them. Soon as they get water, the color fades and it's just the normal green cactus you find on the side of the road. Granted I live in Texas, but this stuff is super common along the roadways of southern Texas. So if you live up north or in a colder clime, then yes, this may be worth it for you. For the rest of us, that live in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico etc, this is a total waste of money. It's not a nice purple/blue unusual cactus; it's just some water-deprived common green cactus available pretty much anywhere.

I Love This Cactus!
I waited to write a review until I got new plant growth as seen in the photo I submitted. this was my first attempt at growing any kind of prickly pear and first time rooting any type of succulent. long story short, it's super easy and I love this thing. I made a video about the whole process on YouTube from unboxing to seeing new plant growth. search on youtube (purple prickly pear cactus by eyes to inspire) this cactus turned out to be a great purchase and I'm very excited about it. it looks beautiful and I'm really looking forward to it setting fruits in the not so distant future. everyone recommends using gloves, I ended up using my bare hands as seen if you watch the video. I got stuck with lots of tiny spines, but I survived. lol:). if you are looking for a purple prickly pear cactus pad to grow, I highly recommend this one!

Exceptional Color. Unmerciful Needles!
Beautiful color. Truly gorgeous and unique. Arrived in excellent condition. Would buy again. Appears to be doing fine since planting indoors about two weeks ago (after ensuring the end was callused, I put the bottom about two inches deep into cactus soil with a bit of rooting powder). My only complaint is DAMN is it prickly! The big needles are easy to avoid, but be very very careful, as those tiny needles are no joke. Wear proper gloves when removing from box and replanting. And keep it away from where kids or pets may accidentally touch it. I live in Seattle, WA and planted indoors in early summer. I expect this will be an indoor cactus and will put it on the balcony when it’s sunny and warm enough. Crossing my fingers it will continue to grow!

Do not be like me, heed that warning
I recieved the box which came with a sticker on it that read "caution: sharp objects inside please use extreme caution. Gave a little chuckle "well duh its a cactus". I thought they had big long thorns so I was just pulling them out of the package like "oh cool they removed the thrones for me" NOPE. DUMB. Took them out of the box and put them on the counter, went to grab my phone to take a picture because they were so beautiful and immediately dropped it on the floor because it pushed the tiny little needles into my fingers as i screamed to myself OH GOD I DID NOT HEED THAT WARNING. I did NOT realize these were tiny tufts of needles, I even petted one thinking about how cute it was. And it was both hands so I had to pull them out with one hand while pushing them in deeper on the other hand at the same time. I saved my thumb for last so that when I finally had gotten enough needles out of my hands that I could retrieve my phone from the floor i could take a picture of this tiny nightmare. I spent the rest of the night and some of the next day discovering the tiny needles I had missed every time I touched something. Do not be like me, wear heavy duty impenetrable gloves. Anyway, beautiful healthy pads, fast shipping, definitely happy otherwise.

Hardy cactus
We were surprised to receive a single, large cactus leaf, however, when planted, it set roots within 10 days. The beautiful purple color stayed perfect and it bloomed the first year. It has 2 new leaves since the photo was taken. We are very pleased. It is in a pot because we are zone 5.
