Swan
This is my second set of Swan which is a gift. I have my first set now for over 3 years. The camera's work great. The only problems! I have had is: the camera wire goes only one way so make sure the male and female end is correct before running the wires. These camera only mount on the side cannot roof mounted it. The camera's logo has to be upright and the camera only moves in one direction downward, so if logo is upside down camera's are not made to move downward. Over time the power plug will fail and will have to be replaced. The cameras, the wire, the box everything has lasted over 3 years now. However the box has a hard drive..... The set up menu from the box on these camera is very much the same as my camera's 3 years ago. Personally I love these camera's. You can see bad weather, But If Big Foot is outside making sound.... I thought about a camera under the bed. lol i enjoy watching the animals at night and day. The camera will not see license plates, there is a very small zoom. My TV is 1080p so great picture. I have seen the garbage man crush a Paid Can because he was lazy, I have seen people getting into cars. Someone hit the car on the road. unloading groceries someone just at the right time pulled up and jumped out of the car checking door handles and ran off with my winter gloves. As far as identifying people it can be difficult. The camera's help to give you a piece of mind and to see what happen after the fact or what is happening. For me I'm happy with my Swan Camera's. The camera's got motion detection so you can scan over 12 hour periods fast to help zoom into a time. It is easy to clip a video and copy to usb. You can put video in MP4 or AVI format but for some reason its got some kind format (codec), its MP4 but my player will not play it and VLC Media Player will play it.

Good clarity/ Definite pros and cons over wireless
Super clear and great zoom. sees pretty clear at night. Some of the many onscreen controls are confusing. There are good and bad things on a fully wired system. There is no wifi lagtime for the main monitor at all. There is a short lagtime on my phone. You have to have a separate mouse to use for the tv which is not a big deal. The amount of wires is a problem. I havent figured out quite what I am going to do to hide them yet.Plus side is I don't have to ever change batteries but it is a bit more expensive to install.I think this has 2 way sound but I have not used it yet .Overall I still think wired is more reliable in the long run.

Great buy.
Picture is very good, location is key. Place cam in well lit area and the picture looks great. At night night vision picks up everything, just dont put close to a light source or will flood the image. I really wish i had chosen the 8 channel vs the 4. 8 channel gives room to expand later, and you will. I do.I am learning this works well as a record 24/7 and get a cheap wifi cam for alerts & notification.

Great quality and very user friendly
My mom purchased these for her building a few months ago and kept saying how happy she was with these cameras. I went ahead and purchased them for our home, after the cameras I purchased at Sam's club went out. I was hoping these would be better and they definitely were. My husband said they were easy to install. The quality is really nice and I love all the features. I like that you can turn on the light on each camera or sound the alarm. I am very happy with this purchase. I highly recommend them!

Don’t Buy Because Warranty Not Honored
This is my second Swann system but will truly be my last. This particular system was recommended by a police officer that responded to a porch pirate at our house. The original system was an older system and did not have the clarity we needed to recognize faces. I purchased and installed the recommended system. This new system advertised as 4K was not quite 4K. Anyway we had a camera that start at working intermittently on our front porch. After a call to tech-support and they remotely connecting into our system they could not find a problem. The next day I got an email saying they closed out the case. A week later I called them with the same problem. I sent them pictures of the distorted camera. They wanted me to crawl into the attic and videotape all of the wires and how they were ran to each camera and to the DVR.Both times I explained to them that I swapped out the bad camera with a good camera and the bad picture followed the bad camera. After spending 45 minutes on the phone with the second tech I was told that I would have to receive a another call from someone else in the next couple of hours that would help me with more troubleshooting items. I understand they have to do their due diligence but I explain to them the camera was bad because I swapped it out to a different wire and that camera remained bad. I think they were doing everything they can to prevent having to send me a new camera. The system was only seven months old and was under the factory warranty. I even had an extended warranty through the Swann app on my iPhone. If it were easy to pull all of the wires out I would’ve jumped the whole system and put in a different brand. Unfortunately it takes a whole day to replace eight wires. If purchasing a home security system do your research and find a company that honors its warranty. Swann does not.

Beware to point cameras away from house and objects
I have had a swann system running for about 8 years now. I have lost 3 of these same model cameras over the last 8 years I believe what kills them off is temperature. We get minus 35 plus sometimes out here in Edmonton Alberta Canada and I dont think electronics likes that temperature. I dont think ANYTHING likes that temperature especially humans! The cameras still function and work at these temperatures but I truly think thats what kills em off over time? 3 cameras in 8 years Not bad! I recommend this productUPDATE! I hooked up all these cameras and couldnt figure out WHY the IR night vision didnt work good at all? with these? After researching the net I found that if you aim/ direct the camera at lets say for an example your houses vinyl or brick siding then the ir leds will bounce off your house back to the camera and the rest of the picture will be no good??? To avoid this make sure you direct your camera away from your home! Bad engineering mistake on swanns behalf. I was almost ready to send these cameras back for this reason seeing only a small part of my home is in the frame and it is causing the night vision to not work properly at all ??? Terrible engineering design I am dropping 5 stars to 3

Swann 8 camera security system
Though the video is great, there is no sound recording. This is not clearly advertised by the seller, the Swann or indicated on the packaging.Only found out once it’s was professionally installed
