Simon & Schuster Mega Crossword Puzzle Book #15 Review: Superb Crossword Puzzles - I've been doing these crossword puzzles for years. I really enjoy that they are easily separated from the book and I can put a few in my purse for when I get out somewhere with a few spare minutes. They are mind challenging. I actually am working my way through all of them for the third time. Keeps my old brain charging. Review: Fun series! - This book has a nice range of crossword puzzles from fairly easy to rather challenging. The clues are fun with a generous splattering of trivia. The pages are perforated so you can take a few on the go. Puzzles are well-edited and professional. I look forward to the next book in this series!

Great for crossword puzzle enthsiasists!
This is the second Mega Crossword Puzzle Book I've purchased. I love the series! It's packed with 300 puzzles, and they're hard enough to be somewhat challenging without being so difficult they're impossible to solve. I'm a little over halfway finished with this one, and I'll be ordering another one when I'm through. If you really enjoy doing crossword puzzles, I think you'll really like this series!

A good value and very entertaining
Large and easy to use, with good sized print and non-glare paper. The pages are perforated for easy removal if desired. For me, these puzzles are medium-hard, which I like because it makes me think and go back, and think outside the box for some of the quirkier answers. There are hours and hours of good entertainment here.

Great crossword puzzle book
Great crossword puzzle book. This is my 4th in the series. Generally very clever puzzles, many with themes. Many of the clues have either multiple possible answers or double entendre's that make you dig for the right one. The puzzles tend to shy away from answers that would require a crossword puzzle dictionary, a friend with a PhD degree in some esoteric field or Google. After all, if a puzzle requires using any of the three former "help-mates", what would be the point of doing the puzzle in the first place? Nope, these many times require innovative and sometimes out of the box thinking. Yes there are a few clinkers but the vast majority of the 300 puzzles are enjoyable indeed. And if you do them in ink it adds that much more to the flavor. Enjoy!

Varying difficulty
These puzzles are just the right challenge level for me. They do vary in difficulty, which keeps me on my toes I guess. And, I tear out the pages and put them on a clipboard so they lay flatter. They teat out of the book very well.

is my favorite. Challenging and fun
This is the 10th such book in the series I have purchased. I am a dedicated "Cruciverbalist" (Crossword nut) and this series, Edited by John Samson and published by Simon and Schuster, is my favorite. Challenging and fun!! Not for the beginner and not for the crossword snob who thinks the ONLY challenge comes from the NY Times Sunday puzzle. I'll be ordering #16 as soon as I finish the 300 puzzles in #15. While I normally love these books, and have gone through quite a few over the years, this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review. This is not a reflection of any of the other mega crossword books. This particular one, however, didn't just slip by editing, it dressed itself in black and belly crawled out of the editor's notice. There are several clues peppered throughout the book which hung me up for hours due to the answer being misspelled, or nonsensical. I found a few where the clue and the answer didn't even make sense because they had absolutely nothing to do with one another. The worst offender is on puzzle number 205, on the 55 down clue. The clue is "Habaneros, for one". The answer is "chilli". The answer that fits into the grid and is listed as correct is the country, Chile. I can understand variations in spelling, but this is not a variation. The country has nothing to do with the hot pepper. For the most part, this crossword book is as fun as any other. There are 300 puzzles to work with, and not all of them throw the solver into unfair chaos due to editing mistakes. The problem is that there are more than I've ever seen in any puzzle book I've ever worked. I've been obsessed with crosswords for easily forty years. Unless you have a sense of humor, maybe try another one of S&S's great mega crossword books.
