You need a narrow regular sized flathead screwdriver to release the cig. lighter
Installed in less than 30 minutes. Video very helpful, except for the cigarette lighter removal; a close-up of the tab to press would have been helpful. The tool provided wouldn't budge that tab so I used a small head screwdriver and an awl.Easiest dashboard work I have done in a long time, and everything worked first time.

Easy to install, so far so good
SUMMARY: seems to work as advertised. Don't unplug the shifter unit to do the install. Installation is EASY except for taking apart the 12v plug.I took off one star because there are no instructions, and the video attached to the product listing is not as helpful as it could be. It's too fast, and could have included a couple of more detailed views That said, installation is pretty easy and it would be hard to screw it up.I have a 2020 RAV4. Prior to owning this car I have done almost no work on cars. So far I've replaced the interior light bulbs with LEDs, installed auxiliary LED lights on the liftgate, and replaced the tinny-sounding horn, learning as I go. After installing the charging pad, when I got it back together I got an error message about the parking brake not working. That worried me, so I put everything back as it was in case I had to take it to the dealership for service. Once I did that, I realized that the error message may have just been a result of the shifter unit having been unplugged; simply running the car and shifting in and out of park resolved the issue. So I decided to put the charging pad back in, but WITHOUT unplugging the wires to the shifter unit. You do have to take it out, but you can just tip it out of the way to the side while you swap the tray for the charging pad.BY FAR the hardest part was getting the metal sleeve out of the 12V plug assembly. It's great that they include a little screwdriver with the charging unit, that's all you need other than a plastic shim to pry up the edge of the shifter unit (watch the video). You have to use the screwdriver to push a plastic tab out of the way as you push the metal sleeve out from the back. It's tricky, but I managed to do it three times (install, uninstall, reinstall). So don't get too frustrated; once it moves just a little bit, you've got it. With the metal sleeve out, there are plastic tabs on the outside of the plastic sleeve that you have to push in, allowing you to pull out the plastic sleeve (also note, the design of the pad makes it MUCH harder to get the plastic sleeve out of the charging tray than out of the original tray, that was the hardest part of uninstalling the unit). When installing the plugs in the new tray, don't force anything; the parts only fit one way so if you have them oriented correctly they slide in easily. The connections are pretty self-explanatory. One wire from the charging pad plugs into the wire you unplugged from the 12v receptacle, the other plugs into the back of the receptacle. Then you plug the cord back into the Android Auto USB receptacle which you moved to the back of the new tray. Finally, there was a clip which holds the wiring in place that attaches to a plastic tab sticking out under the back of the tray, which I didn't notice in the video. The new tray has a similar tab, so I just pried the clip loose from the old tray and pushed it in place on the new one. Not a big deal but unexpected.

Better performance
Works great when setting still. While driving the iPhone charging is constantly interrupted. Phone keeps beeping, very annoying! Also the second USB port is power only.

Overheating
Worked fine. Noticed phone was warm to touch but no big deal I thought. On a day that I drove for 2 hours, phone turned off due to overheating. Phone screen said to cool down completely before restarting. Phone was extremely hot touch. Don’t trust it anymore. Don’t want my phone to get damaged.

Easy to install
Easy to install there is a small plastic square on the car that's easy to lose so be a careful also getting the 12v socket out of the car is a pain however that's not this products fault over all this works flawlessly and the USBC is a great fast charger

2024 RAV4 perfect fit /Slow and hot charging.
The charger slides in and is fairly easy to install. There's even a decent instructional video with it that's worth watching. The charger itself works with my phone through it's Otter Box case, but has to be placed just right, and it does get pretty warm while driving. The charge speed is slow, and keeps the phone charging while enroute, but you're better off with a higher speed charger if your goal is to truly charge your phone. This is more of a battery charger that just maintains your phone. I took a six hour trip with it, and it stayed charged, but didn't really go up much. I was using the phone for navigation and Pandora music too BTW.

Digital display is bad
The product works fine, except for the digital screen. I don't even know why they gave it one, makes it appear cheap. The hardest part was trying to get the cigarette lighter out of the factory one. It's hard to fit a bigger phone like Note20 5G Ultra. But it does charges it, even with an Otterbox case. The built in USB does fast charge.
