You'll need a usb source to plug it into. I've dropped this thing like 18 times and it still works perfectly. It'll give you about a 50% boost in amplification which is plent.

Hooked up this little amp to THE DRAGON FLY -RED, WHICH IS HOOKED INTO MAC-AIR USB SLOT. WORKS FLAWLESS WITH IT. HOOKED OUTPUT OF DRAGON FLY RED INTO INPUT OF THIS TINY AMP, THEN TOOK OUTPUT OF HEADPHONE SLOT ON AMP & WENT WITH RCA INPUTS INTO A MINI-SONY CD PLAYER (AUX - INPUT) & PLAYED THROUGH THE SONY (WHICH IS ONLY 20 WATTS). AMAZINGLY, NOW GETTING DOUBLE THE SOUND, PROBABLY ABOUT 50 WATTS BOOST WITH ABSOLUTELY NO DISTORTION, WITH ONLY THE LITTLE AMP VOLUME UP ONLY 1/2 THE WAY. THE DRAGON-FLY RED IT A MUST BUY IF YOU WANT GREAT SOUND BECAUSE IT ELIMINATES THE GARBAGE SOUND THAT THE MAC PUTS OUT ELIMINATING ANY NOISE INHERENT IN LAPTOPS. THIS AMP MAKES THE MINI STEREO SOUND INCREDIBLE!!!!!

I wear hearing aides. I have about roughly a 50% hearing loss in both ears. So my review will be most valuable to those who can relate. That being said, I've trashed talked many of the top brands because despite however good quality sound they can achieve, most of them fall short for people like me because the volume is too wimpy for people with hearing problems lol. Even Bose! Great sound but cheap on the volume! So that's what I'm always up against at any price level.I didn't know what to expect with this unit but was eager to try it because I been listening to music on my 20 year old radio shack headphone amp that I hacked to get more power out of it. Never satisfied with anything I've tried up to this point. This unit is much smaller than I pictured. I would call it tiny. But I like it because it feels solid and the controls are easy to get to.Now for the moment of truth! I plugged in my favorite headset and phone, sure enough I had to crank it up all the way with gain on high to get to the volume of my radio shack hack, but the sound was much better! More fuller and natural not tinny if you know what I mean. The sound was online to how good Bose is but louder than Bose!I'm happy I can finally put my old radio shack hack back on the rack lol.It's a keeper. Not gonna find much better if you have hearing problems. The best thing about this unit is it's sound! Deep and rich. The volume is still a joke but acceptable for me. I can actually turn it down a hair on some songs. I would have liked to have seen a little more power, but people like me with hearing problems don't make a big market so we are always forgotten.I would imagine if you have good hearing my 3 stars would jump to 5 stars, but I'm keeping the unit and my 3 stars.

I've been trying out, and returning, several cheap headphone amps to replace my old one, a tiny amp made by Brainwavz that I love, but the 3.5mm ports are wonky, so you have to play around with it to get it to work. It boosts the volume a little and the bass a little, without making it muddy. That's what I've been looking for to add a little bass to my Sennheiser HD 598s, which are great cans but need a little more bass.I only used this briefly, but it seems reasonably well made for a $25 unit. I tried it first with the gain on high, which is fine if you have higher impedance and need it, but I don't. I then tried the bass switch with the gain on the high setting and found it overbearing. The bass was too much and overwhelmed everything else. So I switched the gain to low and am now a happy camper. It adds about the same about of bass as the Brainwavz and the sound is clean, not filtered as far as I can tell.I'm looking forward to checking out more music with it, but so far I think my search has finally ended.

Delivered in < 48 hours, and packaged nicely with clear instructions. I am using it to boost the audio (headphone) output of one of the new Mac Mini M1s, which has a HUGE difference in volume compared to my older (2019) Intel Mac mini, so this gets them much closer (since I am using a KVM switch w/sound to switch between them). Even with the boost in the 'L'oud position and the amp volume to max, the M1 Mini volume @ full (volume 17) is about the same as the Intel Mini @ volume 11 (out of 17, so about 65%). That said, this amplifier is doing what it is advertised to do (amplifying the sound), is easy to use, came fully charged, and includes a nice quality 3.5mm cable (so I didn't have to go digging for an audio cable on my own). And sound quite is great, no clipping. However, not sure if Spinal Tap would be satisfied with the volume.

This is a great product. I am hard of hearing and the cheapo earbuds issued by the airlines leave me hearing a low volume, low frequency mush that is unintelligible. My own better earbuds help, replacing the high frequencies, but the addition of this nifty little amp makes all the difference. Solidly built, ( it is a heavy little block of metal. ) , and with a smooth, quality touch to the volume control it is of impressive construction. Gives more volume than you could ever want, I am very pleased with the purchase.

A worry free purchase... The seller stands completely and very expeditiously behind the amp. Seller is more than responsive. The amp itself is worth much more than the asking price. Fabulous reproduction of sound and sufficient amplification for all of my mobile and livestream monitoring needs... Battery life is great. Never ran out of charge, so I am not sure how long it lasts. However lasted for a hours worth of broadcast.... You won't go wrong with this headphone amp... Look at the specifications. Best headphone amp at that price point...
