Purchase a mailbox that requires a 4X4 post in concrete. This is a poor design and would not recommend it.

They look great!The contractor didn't install it very well. I'm guessing he didn't use concrete for the post. It wobbles. I plan to get a better contractor out to make it more stable.

First, you should be aware this is not easy to install. If you do not like digging holes or you are unfamiliar with concrete work, you will have to hire a contractor. It requires a 30" deep hole and 3 60-lb. bags of Quickrite. Second, you may have noticed from the first review that the post wobbles. The reviewer thought this was because her contractor might not have poured enough concrete. That's not the problem-- I poured 30" and the mailboxes still wobbled. You could pour 30' and it would still wobble. The problem is the stake (it is really more like a rail--and is not pictured, which is misleading). It is permanently attached to the unit and it sticks out of the bottom to secure the mailboxes in concrete inside the ground. However, it's also loose inside, and there is no way I could find to secure it. I hoped the concrete around the base would keep it solid, but it didn't. The unit will wobble and seem flimsy no matter what you do. Overall, while the mailboxes themselves look nice, the initial high cost and then the cost and hassle of installation makes this item a poor value.

great looking mail box, i wish the rod was a bit more sturdy but i expect many years of use!

Very disappointed with this product. Fist problem I failed to read the material is plastic, second inside the post needs to be filled with foam. Flimsy. I have to eventually buy a decent mailbox because this mailbox is crap.
