Great Detergent
Great detergent, great value. It doesnโt make suds but it cleans exceptionally well. Was using liquid detergents before due to most of my loads are cold water. It dissolves well even in cold water and you use very little (about 3 tablespoons per large load). A 40lb bucket last me about 8 months. I average at least 4 large loads a week. This one is a winner!

I do this commercially
I wash linens commercially and have tried I believe every product on the market. I took a longshot chance with this one and I could not have been more impressed. I don't ever want to use anything else.

This will last you for a very long time!
This is an industrial grade laundry detergent. As such, it performs to the same standard of any heavy duty bulk detergent out on the market. The scent isn't too strong at all on the clothing, however while still in the bucket it is a very strong lemony type scent. I don't mind it, but some may find it irritating. This doesn't appear to be HE (High Efficiency) detergent, but I am using it in my Frigidaire front-load washer without any problems. No residue left behind in the machine, no stains/discoloration on the clothes. Most people experience clumping with powder detergents, you will only experience that more often with cold washes. To avoid detergent clumps, I recommend warm to hot water washes. I have used this detergent in both conditions and it only clumped up in the cold water wash, so use warm or hot so it can dissolve properly. There is no measuring cup included with this detergent, so find one, or just use a regular kitchen measuring cup at your desired size. Beware, this is a concentrated detergent, so a little goes a long way. Do not use a full cup of this stuff, it will likely weaken the fabric of your clothing much faster that way. Use fabric softener as well as another type of fabric conditioner to help mitigate damage to more sensitive fabrics. Most detergents are course cleaners, their job is to sanitize and deodorize, to do this, they have to use some harsher chemicals and compounds to deep clean the fibers, which eventually will weaken them. Since this is an industrial detergent, it is much stronger than your typical household stuff. Be mindful of your measurements. I typically use only about a 1/4 cup for a medium load, and about a 1/3 cup for a full load. All in all, this product is exactly as it is advertised, and it is a bargain! You could continue to pay $20-$30 for big name detergents like Gain and Tide and only get 100 washes, or you could just get this bucket and get nearly a year's worth of washes! Guarantee you an average family could use this same bucket for at least 8-10 months if proper measurements are used!

More concentrated than the stuff in the 18lb bucket
I've been purchasing the 18lb buckets of this brand's laundry detergent for a couple of years, this time I purchased the 40lb bucket because pound for pound it is cheaper. I noticed right away that this isn't quite the same. It has the same scent, but this is slightly more granular, and is much more powerful than the other. I can use 1/2 as much as I needed with the other stuff!DO NOT USE TOO MUCH! In my HE top loading washer, I use a little less than 1/4 cup for normal, average, everyday type laundry (medium size load). If my work clothes have hydraulic oil or dirty, nasty grease, I will use 1/3 cup and it takes it right out. It also removed the accidental spill of canola cooking oil on my pants. It took one further washing to remove the stain, but the oil feel was gone after one wash.If you see suds, you are using WAY too much detergent! This is meant to have little to no suds/foam. If you use too much, it won't all rinse away and can irritate skin. This is an awesome deal, and gets work clothes laundry service clean every time!Just to note like I did in my review for the 18lb bucket, this will take out the residue left behind from fabric softener that most of the big brands leaves behind. Your clothes will be stiff and scratchy if you just wash and dry without some sort of softening agent.

Frugal Longlasting and Long Storing
This power detergent by Boardwalk does not contain enzymes that degrade quickly, meaning its effectiveness will last for a long time in storage. The plastic bucket is sturdy and will not decay as some liquid laundry detergent bottles will under hot or cold conditions like if you have your washer and dryer in the garage. With that said, the lack of enzymes means this detergent will not be as good as others with removing stains. Pretreating is recommended if you need to get food, grease, or human waste stains out of your clothing wash. This detergent has a fine but dense grain to it. I haven't noticed any problems with dissolving the powder in my water (which is regarded as hard) but I could see some people finding it beneficial to pre-dissolve in a cup of warm water before adding to the wash.If anyone has used the Windfresh detergent sold in places like Sam's, I believe this Boardwalk detergent is the exact same stuff just sold with different labelling. It smells and looks exactly the same in my opinion. My final 2 cents worth, I think this is a good value to have around the house. If you prep or like to stock up, this will be long lasting. Expect to need to use some extra laundry aids if your family really soils their clothes.
