An exquisite story, beautifully illustrated, about a little girl and the flower she loves. Each day she tells the flower how much she loves it, and it flourishes. But the flower's owner is jealous ...A lot is packed into a small space here. The jealous owner relates everything back to himself; the little girl is wiser than the grown man. The illustrations do more than depict the words, they carry the story forward. The book opens up questions about why people behave as they do - and what effect they have on the life around them.I bought this book for a granddaughter: I think she will love it.

Lovely book with a really great message about being kind and the impact of our words. It also has some lovely illustrations that the children in my class have really enjoyed.Only gave it 4 stars as it came dirty on the front cover.

A wonderful book. I used this in my classroom and the children got so much out of it in terms of using their inference skills.

We love this book! The message about how everyone benefits from kindness and the beautiful illustrations. Immediately as we'd finished reading it our child wanted it read again and that's all I want from a children's book!

This is a beautifully illustrated book that explores how love works. Can you demand that love grow in others because you long to be loved or will it only bloom when you yourself learn to treat the others in a more loving way. I bought this as a gift for a small child and I think it both funny and thought provoking. I particularly like the bit where the man orders the flower to bloom to cheer him up.

A beautifully written book, I thoroughly recommend. I immediately ordered a second copy as a gift.
