Edgewater PartsW10190952 Ice Maker Replacement Compatible with Whirlpool Refrigerator

I ordered this and got it the next day.........My old icemaker was Not working......Its very easy to pull out the old one and replace it with this one..."However" i had to swap the ends of the cable wires that plug in to the refrigerator wires.....the end of the new cable was way way to large and i wanted a new resistor thats in the new cable i cut the wires and soldered them to the original connector and used heat shrink on the soldered connections....so far Sooooooooooo GOOD.

The old plug was reusable, the two that came with it did not fity fridge. Just remove square cover on old one to remove plug with a flat head screw driver to replace onto new unit.

My old ice machine did not work (2019 side by side whirlpool Fridge unit WRS325SDHZ01). I watched all the videos. I tested all the front ports with the insulated jumper wire. The unit injected water, had all the right power readings, and could manually harvest ice (but still did not work on its own). I replaced the filter and confirmed the temp was b/w 0-10 degrees. I first tried replacing just the front electrical board (aprox $28 fix). That did not work. I then purchased this whole new unit with the ice tray and heater element. That solved my issue. Within a couple hours I had ice. After 1 day I had 3/4 full bucket. The new ice machine specs on Amazon did not have my exact whirlpool ice machine model # (626681.....btw this # was stamped on the Harvest gear wheel). However, there were some compatible models that were off by a couple #s so I tried it anyways. Also, I had to re-use the power cable from the original unit and I had to cut out the perforated plastic water spout catch cup to ensure proper fit. All working now!

The original icemaker in my refrigerator froze every cube of ice completely. This replacement icemaker does not.When this icemaker ejects the ice cubes into the storage bin, many of the cubes are not yet completely frozen. The remaining water forms a large block of ice in the bottom of the storage bin making even the "good" cubes unusable.I will replace have to replace it.

The ice maker works well, but it is made for mucho many models of fridge, many of which do not use the metal ice gauge that comes with the unit. This is the metal 'bent wire' that goes up and down as ice fills the ice tray. It turns off the ice maker when the ice hits a certain level.My problem was that the one that comes with the unit was not formed properly for my freezer tray, so ice overflowed. I later changed it out and substituted the one from my broken ice maker. It has been 3 weeks of fiddling, so far, to get it to work right.I think I have it set right, but it has slipped out of alignment before. So, don't thrown out your old one ... it may not work without a substitution and some fiddling and bending.
