Durable and Comfortable Fitting Harness
My dog trainer recommended this brand a few years ago and I’ve continued using it for all my dogs. Love the adjustability, durability (still using the first one I purchased 3 years ago), and how comfortable they are to wear. Nice assortment of colors.Only drawback is that the clips that attach the straps to the harness are a bit tight when you first start using but eventually loosen a little for easier snapping on and off.

Very nice harness
Attractive, looks sturdy, fairly easy to get on our dog who is squirmy when we try to put harnesses, raincoats, etc. on her. Used so far with just the shoulder clip. We'll see how the chest "clip" goes at Saturdays's training class. Excellent reflective piping. Doesn't look like there's much until light hits them at night, then they glow very brightly in an eye catching scheme from all sides including front & back. Since she does not attempt to chew or get out of the harness can't address the complaints some have had. Guess we are lucky there. Easy to clip & unclip the snap closures. Moderately easy to adjust the strap lengths & they seem to hold well. Not cheap when you just look at it, as sort of small & lean but the performance is what makes it a good buy.

Our "adventure harnesses". Check the size chart carefully. (Smaller sizes, at least)
I just ordered a second harness for one of our other dogs, so clearly like it. I wanted a sturdy, fabric type "Tactical"-ish harness with more chest coverage, not made of mesh, with the ability to grab the dog by the harness product because we use the harness when driving and on what we call "adventures". We live in coyote/bear/alligator country (you guess where :-) )Fit: These fit my small terriers very well, but check the RuffWear size chart carefully, measure accurately, and if your dog is on the low end of their chart, you might want to order down a size (at least with the smaller sizes). The first one I ordered for my 18#, 14-1/2" tall (Chest 17-1/4" Neck 12") Jack Russell was an XS. I have to tighten it up a lot (but not to the max) to fit right. After trying it on her, I ordered the same for our larger (23#, ) terrier cross rescue after trying it on, but she is measured as a "medium" on several other harness brands. Even then, it's in the high middle of adjustment.Comfort: The first couple of wearings, one of our dogs seemed uncomfortable in it, but now behaves completely normally. I check the dogs closely after an "adventure", and have never seen evidence of chafing or scrubbing hair. My JRT is a broken/wire coat, our terrier cross is double coated smooth. I expect this harness is warmer than a mesh one, but dogs don't sweat, and the color is lighter than their coats in general, so it may be cooler than using a black mesh harness (??).Durability/Chew-proofness: The first one we've had for two and a half years, and it's held up great. No visible wear, though it gets exposed to mud, sun and salt water regularly. It's hard to talk about chew-proofness as Amazon asks, since I don't leave the harness on or where they can get to it when not being used, so they don't have the opportunity to chew it. I suspect the outer cover wouldn't handle just being chewed on like a stuffed toy. The dogs have played in the ocean with it on, and it dries out OK - a little slower than the dogs themselves. It's NOT a PFD for dogs, we know, this is playing on the beach. The dogs understand they are allowed to pull in a harness vs. collar, so pull a good bit, and I've picked them up by the harness to get them in the car, over a big mud puddle/creek or whatever. There is no wear on the edges or any seam pulling after this time, and the buckles have never slipped or unintentionally separated. The buckles are firm, a little difficult to adjust, but you only have to do that the first time or if your dog gains/loses weight.Cleaning: I've cleaned them with soap & water with a brush satisfactorily, have not run them through a washing machine (and don't think that's recommended anyway). The older one shows some minor color fade, but not anything we would worry about.Other features: The handy little tag loop on top is nice, you can put their rabies or ID tag there with a small split ring. The front loop helps if you're trying to discourage your dog from pulling like a sled dog. I'd sort of rather it be a metal loop, but it doesn't seem to be showing signs of wear.

Great for dogs that pull!
I have a reactive pit bull mix and have bought 5 or 6 different harnesses within the last year searching for the best one. I think I’ve found the winner! This harness is designed so that her front legs and shoulders can move freely without chafing or restriction. The padded straps are much more comfortable and don’t rub off her fur like other harnesses have. I love the light-reflective strips and pouch for tags. I have tried over-the-head style, step-in style, and clip-around style harnesses and surprisingly my fearful dog seems to prefer the over-the-head style. (Less clips and jangly bits).Even though my dog does pulll, I did not try the front clip as she just leans in and walks crooked but continues pulling, inevitably causing the harness to twist around. But, the regular back clip feels very strong and secure and has stayed on even with some really strong pulling.

Better than anything else I've found. But...
We have two dogs and got each of them this harness on recommendation. For our 63lb older St Bernard mix, it is perfect. The medium fits snug and secure in just the right places. It's well made. Very solid. She loves it.For our 75lb German Shepherd 'puppy' it's far less effective. The medium size is maxed out on the straps, but the next size up is far too large for her. And there doesn't seem to be a size option in between. The fit is not perfect. It's a little short on the chest, which bothers her over time. But we kept the harness because it really is well constructed. Which is what we were looking for because the 'puppy' is STRONG. The no-pull chest leash attachment has been a godsend in training. Except - it's not metal hoop like the one on the shoulder blades! It's just a reinforced fabric loop. After 6 months (of admittedly heavy use) it's fraying. As much as I would love to love this Ruffgear harness, it's not enough for our powerful energetic youngster. We are going to try something else for her. We are considering a real tactical working dog harness next.

I love my Ruffwear gear
These harnesses are my absolute favourite. I have one for each of my dogs and recommend them often to clients. They are fairly adjustable, so fit lots of different breed dogs and the padding is soft so doesn’t cause chaffing. I love that they have a front clip as well as a back clip and they do not restrict shoulder movement. Will probably end up buying more in different colours 😂

Excellent quality of material, clasps and fit.
I've been using these harnesses for 8 years on my dogs. I just got a new one for my 8 month puppy. I ordered the wrong size, there was no problem returning it and getting the proper size. Not only is the quality excellent, the harness fits across the chest, so no pressure on the dog's neck.

Best harness by far for sure
I have tried a few different harnesses for my 10 pound Pug Pomeranian cross and this one fits him very well. It's easy to adjust, easy to take on and off, sturdy and comfortable for him.

High quality product
I love the material and the fit of the product. I took picture when we were trying it on . It fitted well, and looks comfortable for my fur baby. I'll be putting it on her when I take her for a walk.
