The product worked great on white surfaces... but I have dark carpet and dark furniture, so it didn’t work for me. I should’ve read the label before purchasing. Overall a great product though, will have to return. **Update: I just realized I didn’t update my previous review while using the product this evening lol. So, the company read my review and within two days sent a replacement product that blew the first light out of the water. Let me be clear though, I wasn’t disappointed with the first product, but with my lack of reading skills... yet the company made sure I was happy. For the record, I am thrilled. I included a picture that I took tonight, months later, of my carpet (gross, I know). You won’t be disappointed. Very bright, sturdy, and a good value for the money.

Cat urine needs a specific kind of blacklight to show up (different from dog urine), and this one isn't it. I found a spot I was 100% certain my cat peed on and it didn't show up at all under the light. Yes, it was completely dry. It does work well on other things, though, like for your bathroom and cat vomit on dark carpet, and it's pretty bright and feels sturdy.

I have small blue light urine detector that I thought was good, but this particular light is great. Much brighter and covers more surface area. I had kept a neighbors dog who doesn't use peed pads. I had to keep an eye on her and take her out often. Even with that, she ended up using my new rug for her inside potty. I was able to see where she had gone, so I could clean it. I think it might only illuminate once the urine is dry. I haven't tried to use it on fresh piddle. I am certainly happy with this purchase.

OMG, Have had my rescue dog for a few years and I knew that he had accidents plus sometimes would just go ahead and lift his leg to pee whenever and wherever he wants to but did not know how extensive it was. Told my husband that now we must move. The carpet is done and is so bad that new carpet is the only answer. And it's not just the carpet. We're talking furniture and whole house. Oh yes, this light is a very high quality made product. After I put batteries in, it didn't work so I unscrewed top part, took apart and put back together and it worked just fine. Bright, easy to hold. I got the 68 LED. If I had known how bad my dogs problem was I would have gotten the 100 LED. Yes I highly recommend this, unless you are a total germ-a-phobic. I NOW CAN NEVER UNSEE WHAT I SAW......lol

It's a good portable black light and it works well for dust and other things but if you are looking for pet urine or anything like that it does not seem to show up with this light. I will be returning.

I’m rewriting this review. My review speaks of 2 lights THIS ONLY COMES WITH THE BIG ONE- BIG: The light is very much like a bright black light u would use on a wall. It’s very purple very bright. Makes white stand out great. THE PHOTO I SHARED OF A STAIN: WAS TAKEN WITH THE BIG LIGHT THAT THIS REVIEW IS UNDER- IT IS NOT CAT URINE BUT IT IS SOMETHING ON MY WHITE COUCH THAT I CAN NOT SEE WITH THE NAKED EYE. Now my experience: I got this light checking for cat urine even tho it doesn’t state it works for cat urine because some reviews said it would still find it. It did not. It also didn’t find a lot of stains even in my bathroom that I couldn’t already see with the naked eye. It could see laundry soap that I couldn’t see. It didn’t seem to find people urine either. I don’t own a dog. The customer service is AMAZING. The company replaced the product with one that is “more” for what I need.. seems like it’s a “whiter” light. The small one is the one they sent me after- the big one is the one I bought first. So if u r looking for cat urine use the little one I suppose. Also I have medium length carpet. I still have to smell test then part the fibers to find the protein with the light. The cat sprayed on a pile of laundry and the new light didn’t find it there easily either. I barely saw anything at all of at all even when I could smell it so strongly. I don’t think using a light is going to help ME. The company has gone above and beyond to help me find the right product I’m very grateful for that. I’m convinced there just isn’t one that’s gonna spot my cats urine very well. So my sniffer is my best tool.- This review may not help with telling you what the light CAN do but I will tell you this isn’t a light for cat urine and the company is very helpful. If there is a way to reach out to them before you purchase and explain what you need, do it! They will help u find the product u need. For me I couldn’t find a way to contact them before I bought it so I just tried it anyway. Lucky for me they actually read their reviews! Thank you GearLight!

Doesn’t work. I was in pitch pitch black house. I have a puppy and know he tinkles everywhere when excited literally didn’t show a thing up except for crisps my son had dropped on the floor

Fostered a Cat that sprayed in the house. I used this UV light to find where he had pissed. Did the job!

Lets you see the dried blood! ...and other bodily fluids. We bought this to find where one of our cats had been spraying and it works well.

Solid construction and works really well to find hornworms and scorpions in the dark ! Not much use as a flashlight, but then that's not what I needed it for.

This is the coolest flashlight ever. My family is going to bring it when we go on trips so we can check our hotel rooms lol
