The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Extremely Narrow Boot
There's something really strange about this shoe; it super duper narrow so I had a really tough time getting my foot in there. After I managed to get it on, it felt like the shoe was on the wrong foot - the same sensation you get when you accidentally put a left shoe on your right foot. At any rate, I've got 5 other pairs of Frye boots and I got the same size in these as I have in the others...but, like I said, the narrowness is very weird. They also seemed way too stiff and just awkward looking. I

Something is not right with these boots....
Amazon is almost sold out of these so not sure worth leaving a review but here goes.... I love the Frye Billy Short boots and own several pairs in size 8.5 which is my regular size. The 8.5 in this particular style were really WIDE on me - they fit like a men's boot - and they gape badly at the top. I tried an 8 but it was uncomfortably tight. Since these are bench crafted in Mexico, I thought would try another 8.5 in case my 8.5 was just a defective pair. The replacement pair I received was a return (the other customer's return invoice was still in the box) and seemed even looser than the first pair. So everything is going back and hopefully Amazon will take out my return invoice before sending them out to another customer :|

Love Frye Billy Short
I love the Frye Billy Short boots. However, I returned the black pebbled full grain leather. They were just too black. I wanted the 77815 which is the number posted for these boots but that's not what I received. I wear a size 6 in other boots but I wear a 6.5 in these. They run 1/2 size too small if you have medium width or wider feet. If you have a high instep these might be next to impossible to get on. I put plastic bags on my feet & take them on & off several times until the leather stretches & softens around the boot opening. Then I wear thin slippery socks. Love the look of the Frye Billy Short.

Best. Boots. Ever.
So thrilled with these boots. I normally wear a size 8, but I have ever-so-slightly wide feet so I opted to order a 1/2 size up. I do think if my feet were narrow or normal I would have been fine in my normal size. My right foot must be the bigger of the two because it is hard to pull the right boot on and it feels a little tight around the ankle but I’m stubborn and forced it. It’s already getting easier to put on after a few wears. I didn’t need to break them in at all, more comfortable than my previous favorite brand Teva. And 100$ cheaper than on the Frye website. (Don’t forget to weather proof your leather!)

Lovely color and awfully fun...
Love these little boots! Happen to have some shoe cream the same color and now they just glow. Am slowly breaking them in as I wear sandals most of the time, but took them and my dog for a walk the other day and did just fine. Had other Frye boots in a size 8, which is usually my size, but ordered 8 1/2 in these and they fit well-- but probably couldn't wear heavy socks with them. Am 67 and had to hurry and get cowboy boots before I turn 70!

The smell and look of hand crafted quality
These boots are beautiful! The smell of leather and look of quality. My usual size is a 7.5 but upon reading many reviews I bought an 8 and am glad I did. They fit like a glove. The leather starts conforming within minutes to the shape of my foot hence break in has commenced. The simplistic look and rich color look awesome with fave pair of jeans or possibly something a little more dressy. There isn’t much cushioning but the sole is well crafted and with a low heel the lack of cushioning isn’t a problem.

HaPPy Feet with Style!
(John's wife here) I bought a pair of these Billy Short Frye from Frye a couple years ago and they are so comfortable with the western stitch style! I tried to buy another pair but they were not the same leather and fit as these since bench crafted and they slightly change boot each year with design & style . But I saw that you had a older pair that were marked as used and thought I'd take a chance they were what I wanted! I'm glad I did they are the boots I have come to love and needed another pair!! They still looked like new only a very slight wear on soles...Thank you I now have Happy Feet with Style!!

Fit my wide foot great!
I love Frye boots and often have trouble with the width. Not in this case. I also find Frye boot sometime need some "break-in" time, also not in this case. Great choice of colors and sizes. Probably will be tempted to by another pair!

Well-made boots
I'm normally a size 9 but ordered size 9.5 due to the comments stating the boots ran small. They were too big so returned them for a 9. Found they were still slipping at the heel even with thicker socks and rather wide as well...wider than other styles of Frye boots. Unfortunately, had to return these boots too. Still had to give them a 5 star rating though, as they are a lovely colour, beautifully made and of excellent quality. Just what you'd expect from a Frye boot.

As suggested I went a half size up. Perfect. Always wanted a pair and these are gorgeous. Nice distressed leather.
