Platinum PRESIDENT [nib : Extra Fine]

I just ordered another one after receiving this one the same day! This pen writes so smooth for an extra-fine nib and writes as thin/small as an extra-fine nib fountain pen should write like this. And for 1/3 - 1/2 less expensive than other fountain pens of this quality.I am going to go even say that I am enjoying it as much as a Pilot Custom 823 fine nibbed pen (I don't have an extra fine one) which is probably my favorite fountain pen of all time.

An instant favorite at an amazing price. A step up in quality from the 3776 Centuries pens, which I also love. The President has an 18k nib which makes it just a bit smoother and fluid to write with compared to the 14k 3776 nibs. A glorious writing experience. The President feels a bit more substantial in the hand and has slightly more gold trim than the 3776 as well. I love this pen. It's up there with my Pilot Custom 823's and Pelikans.

I primarily purchased this for the nib so that I could swap into my Platinum Izumo. The other Platinum pen I own (had 3+ of them) are Platinum Century 3776. The Century 3776 is better built and felt nicer than the previous flagship President. The trims around the cap band are sharp on the president and doesn't feel like the molding of the plastic was as well done. The nib is excellent however, but the rest of the body isn't as "premium" feeling as it's cheaper sibling or other brands in the same price range.

Había pedido este producto a Amazon Japón pero no me pudo ser entregado después de un mes sin ninguna explicación. Me reembolsaron y con ese dinero más un plus, adquirí este, exactamente. La punta, aunque viene marcada como President de 18 K EF, es un latón frágil, con un iridium apenas notable, que rascaba demasiado. Reemplacé el plumín con una punta Jinhao de 18 K F y funciona a las mil maravillas, con una extraordinaria suavidad y estabilidad en el trazo. Algo hay con esta pluma que no corresponde a lo que se anuncia ni al prestigio de la marca. Se trata, claro, de un modelo descontinuado. En Japón parece que hay ejemplares en algunas tiendas, quizás sean más originales que este qye compré. No lo devolví porque lo entinté y le hice pruebas y correcciones (soy coleccionista y tengo recursos técnicos para eso). No lo recomiendo..

This is a bit of a surprise in that this Platinum President has a #5 nib and is a tad smaller in length than the Pilot Custom 823 pictured next to it. That said. This is well-balanced pen, with a smooth and steady flow which is drier than the Pilot but well behaved. Somewhat firm nib but captures every whisper of my hand and the EF nib is just a dream. A nice balance of feedback and action. Not much variation but then, I don’t expect much with a point this tight. I was also pleasantly surprised that the pen had a cartridge and a converter. The converter holds more ink than many. I am very happy to have this in my collection.
