Comfortable and modest shorts
I bought these shorts because I need to be comfortable during the hot summer, but not feeling grannyish or like I'm trying to be 18 years old. I am in my 30s and have been looking for comfortable shorts that have a good length but don't make me feel like I'm dressing too old or too young. These shorts are perfect! I was a little nervous about the thigh part because obviously the model has nice slender legs, but these look great on me even having little thicker thighs. I recommend these for anyone looking for comfortable shorts that are not too short or long.Oh! I wear a size 8, and the medium fit me perfectly even with having a curvy figure.

Light and dries quickly.
These shorts are awesome. Very light fabric, that dries quickly. They do not ride up between the legs. I normally wear a size 18 (47 inch hips) , but per Columbia's size chart, that put me in between sizes. So, I went up to a size 20 (2X). The only problem with these are, that they sit above my natural waist. (I am only 5' 3" with a short torso). This makes the shorts "puff out" and makes it look like I am bigger than I actually am. But, I think that if I would have ordered a size down, then they would've been too tight in the hips. Overall, I really like the feel of these shorts.

Easy Breezy! Get them!
I was so pleased with the these shorts. I'm a pear-shaped lady, and I have thick thighs and a tiny upper body. Therefore, I hardly ever find shorts that fit me well. I hate shorts with small inseams because I just end up with a permanent wedgie. However, these 6" Columbia shorts are a GAME CHANGER. So comfortable, they fit amazing (loose even around my thick thighs!) And they are flattering. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the crotch area bunches up sometimes when I walk in them. But it's a small price to pay for excellent comfort and breathability.

Super comfy, perfect for brisk, long walks
These Columbia Women's Sandy River Cargo shorts are extremely comfortable, although I'd hardly call them "cargo" since the only cargo-like pocket is large enough for but a tissue and a little loose change. I do wish there were back pockets. It's ok, these are super comfy, lightweight and perfect for day hikes and brisk long walks. Besides, a small daypack can hold the essentials. They don't cling, aren't too tight anyplace and are even have UPF 30 sun protection, though I don't usually apply sunscreen to the area the shorts cover...These are the third pair of shorts of this sort I've tried (including the much pricier LL Bean ones) and the only ones not returned. They are lightweight, just the right length and don't cling. Although the waist is elastic, it comes with a sporty adjustable belt that I like. These are great everyday shorts, too. They aren't trendy, but they're not dowdy or matronly either, just a neutral activewear pair of nice looking shorts. I'd recommend them!

Weird Fit
I ordered these along with some Sandy River "short shorts" that are drawstring waist for hiking and fishing. These fit way better than the drawstring kind, but were kind of tight through the thighs/hips and weirdly loose around the waist--think lots of extra fabric bunched up around the elastic waistband. They weren't a terrible fit, but they weren't great, either. The length was perfect, though. 6" inseam for hiking, etc. is just right for my 5'10" 30-something frame--not indecently short, but not grandma length, either. If it was just this pair, I'd probably have ended up keeping them because the fabric is breathable, quick dry and the pockets seemed good for keeping a few small items on my person, but since none of the shorts I ordered this time worked, I'm just sending it all back. Amazon has GREAT deals on Columbia clothing, but the downside is Columbia has bad sizing issues and you obviously cannot try things on ahead of time to see if they'll fit before you buy. At least Amazon has such a great return policy. For reference, I ordered a medium and I am a size 10, around 165 lbs.

Order larger size for those who are "plus size"
I just received these yesterday. I did order a size larger due to previous reviews and they fit nicely (I wear a 22/24w and I ordered a 3x). The material is lightweight and just want I wanted for a trip this summer. The pockets are mesh inside and there are 2 small pockets on each side of the leg. I ordered another pair in a darker color.

O.k. for every day shorts.
I went up a size and that was a good thing since they fit fine now. These are decent shorts, not too short and light weight. My only complaint is the cargo pockets, which are just a waste of space. One has a flap that is sewn closed on each side so you only have about 3 fingers worth to get into and if you did actually put something in there, it would only be coins as it's too small. The one with a zipper is just as small but will zip a littler farther open. It opens just wide enough to put a driver's license in vertically and you will only be able to use two or three fingers to get it out. It's depth is just enough to hold the driver's license and barely zip. The two regular pockets are deep enough to hold a large cell phone but you need to be careful as it will slip out.

Weird crotch, very unflattering
These shorts are okaaaaaay, useable but not great. I got the large, as I’m usually a size 6-8 and since they come with a belt I thought that would be safer. The waist and legs fit pretty well, and the belt is pretty good! The weird part is the crotch area, it’s super short so when I pull them up to my waist it gives this horrible weird camel toe lol. It’s like the crotch is made too short for the size of the shorts. The material is cheap but comfortable enough. The crotch thing makes them really hard to wear though.

They fit
Okay 300 pound five foot seven I thought the 3x would be too small on me and although the elastic is stretched they fit and they look nice they are roomy but not oversized I do however see the clasp breaking quickly and the belt is a no-go but I like them and I will keep them and wear them in the summer to the beach

Fabulous hiking shorts
These are a great fit and very light for hiking. My go to shorts for summer hiking. They dry very quickly too. Colombia makes amazing clothes. Pricey but worth it.

Zippered pocket too small
Zippered pocket too small for anything bigger that a key. Definitely not fitting a small phone. A bigger secure side pocket would be a plus.
