INNA DE YARD is a joyous, vibrant film set against a backdrop of the lush green mountains of Jamaica, that sees a superstar group of reggae legends gather to record a new album of infectious hits in an unplugged style that harks back to their roots. The musicians include Ken Boothe, Winston McAnuff, Kiddus I, Cedric Myton and Judy Mowatt whose iconic songs capture the poetry and passion of their homeland. Directed by Peter Webber (Girl With A Pearl Earring), the film is studded with intimate acoustic versions of classic tracks (such as Ken Boothe's Everything I Own), and dazzling live performances from their unforgettable all-star concert in Paris. Recounting the history and continuing cultural importance of reggae music, this landmark film paints an unforgettable portrait of these pioneering artists; their successes and failures, happiness and heartache, during a lifetime immersed in this colossally influential music scene.

Good Documentary
This documentary follows former reggae stars coming together to rehearse for a show that later takes place in Paris. Parallels will almost inevitably be drawn with The Buena Vista Social Club but it stands alone focussing on its own location and genre. It is nicely shot to show off its Jamaican setting and neatly edited, using the simple but effective format of allowing the artists to speak directly to camera. In this way they each tell their own story in their own way without any directed questions or narration. There are glimpses of them in their peak too, as portayed on LP covers or posters.Combined their tales show the cross fertilization of genres and influences of ska, through rock steady to reggae itself. They also put the music into its social context and describe the pitfalls of the music industry and record company deals.Interesting and entertaining.
