GREAT BOOK!!!
I am a Dr. Who novice, but already an avid fan. My grandson and his father watch the show constantly. His father stared way back in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He was always talking about it when he came to visit my daughter. I never paid much attention to it, BUT now can not get enough of it. I even bought this for my kindle. The hardback I bought for my grandson for Christmas. Again, like the character encyclopedia, he did not want to put it down to open other presents. He is 19. I also read some of this before giving it to him, that is why I got the kindle edition. I highly recommend this to anyone with even a passing interest in Dr. Who!!! Matt Smith, ROCKS. Not to mention has GREAT hair!!!!! He also keeps me laughing. I am constantly amazed at how the writers are constantly coming up with new shows. You would think by now that they had covered just about everything imaginable, but no so. Keep up the good work guys and ladies!!!!!!!

Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Doctor Who - and then some
A must for any Doctor Who fan - From the fist doctor (almost) through the 11th (it only covers the first half of season 11 - to the episode The Snowman).. What do you want to know - what he calls himself - what others call him - his height - how many hours it would take to binge watch each doctor - other sci-fi / fantasy movies each actor has been in - you name it - it's probably in this fact-packed book. It's a book for "dipping into" - not reading all at once. Although looking up one thing often leads to binging on other facts.

Not What I Expected
I'll confess up-front that the three-star review is a reflection of the book not meeting my expectations, rather than something terrible about the book itself. The book is smaller than expected - about the size of a paperback novel - rather than the coffee-table sized book I expected. (I should have checked the dimensions before I ordered it!) And the paper is mass-market paperback quality, not glossy. And, there are no photographs reproduced in the book, only a few drawings by way of illustration. Lastly, a large part of the content truly is miscellany - lots of odds-and-ends, of varying degrees of interest.Having said all that, it is fun to read - if you dip into it occasionally. (I keep my copy in the bathroom!)Do not buy this book as a single 50th Anniversary souvenir. But, if you read this review and the book still sounds okay to you, you will probably love it - for what it is.

Spoilers!
I bought this book because I was newly introduced to Doctor Who over the winter. I'm almost completely caught up on the series now. It's been about a month since I began watching. I wanted to supplement my watching with a bit of reading as well. Just in case I missed anything. This book doesn't complete Matt's run as the Doctor but it's close enough. Unfortunately, it's so detailed that I did spoil some things for myself. If you haven't watched all of it, be careful what you go digging for. You will definitely find it. Overall, it's the perfect book for a Whovian. You get in on some little details and finally put together that 'hey! I've seen that actor before' moment.

An almanac--for Whovians
Trivia fans used to wait anxiously for annual almanacs, which contained all manner of information useless to most of the world but fascinating to us. Now that we have the Internet, there's no such anxiously awaited occasion at the end of the year, but Doctor Who: Who-ology is a rich source of Doctor Who trivia.Since the 50th Anniversary episode in November promises to reference all the Doctors and many episodes, this is a great review book for anyone who wants to ensure s/he gets every shout-out.The book doesn't quite include all fifty years--the second half of Season Seven, aired in 2013, is not included--but there's enough to keep any Doctor Who fan enthralled, with a fifty-year timeline of significant events, lists of minor characters and charts of episodes and companions.

A great gift for a whovian.
We got this for my son, but it has turned more into a family gift, with its collection of Doctor Who info that any whovian would find very interesting. It has "spoilers" if you haven't seen much of Doctor Who. It is really worth getting the only down side is that I wish there was more info, it already has almost 400 pages. the book it roughly larger than the size of a DVD case but much thicker. If you want to know who really is "the Face of Boe" and many other things about the Doctor Who show over the years. You should check this book out.

Great book!
If you're a Whovian looking to expand your knowledge about DW, this is the perfect book. It's got loads of awesome facts - many of which are little known facts. Shows important dates in the show's history, information about characters, the Doctor's incarnations, etc. I'm very well versed in Who facts as I have been watching the show since before the reboot in 2005 but the book was still a very good read. Recommended for those who are serious about Who!

Excellent condition
The book is in great condition. Was glad to see that they had included Capaldi's run as the Doctor in it.

Defineitly written for the more die-hard fans, but everyone can enjoy to some degree
This is a very well written book, full of random facts and humour. The whole thing is just very very random but fun facts about Doctor Who, from the classic 1963 season to the end of Peter Capaldi's era (naturally there's a bit more on modern Who than Classic). Some not-as-huge-fans may find it a bit tedious as times but if you've seen DW enough times then you'll know where most (if not all) the references come from. To be fair, the writers have done a very good job in naming the episode where the reference comes from. And even in between the facts and figures, there are some humorous bits of writing in between. Great illustrations as well!!

A book to read between the books!
This is a good book if you like statistics, who said or did what, why they said/did it and to what effect. All there is to know about the first fifty years of the series, episodes,Tardises,(Tardi?),sonic screwdrivers, companions and most importantly the various incarnations of the Doctor and lots of info you wouldn't even think of were it not for this book.As has been said in other reviews, this is not so much a book to read from cover to cover - more a book full of facts, figures and details - a book to read between books!

Really enjoyable .
Great fun , well put together and enjoyable . I really had a great time reading this it is full of info an well put together . Ok some have pointed out it doesn't go into real fandom detail , but in my opinion it doesn't need to . It tells both the casual and dedicated fan enough to keep them happy and tells it in a fun and interesting way for all ages to enjoy . I got the kindle version , so my only slight gripe would be some of the charts are a little difficult to read there but hey other than that really can't fault it .

For the Who ologist in your life.
If you know someone, young or old who likes Dr. Who, then this is a great book. We had to wait a while, problems shipping -- I suspect BBC assume anyone outside Britain isn't going to be pushed -- certainly not the case. This book has travelled daily in the school bag -- and it is not light. Perhaps that is the measure of a good book these days!I'm told, it is well worth the wait -- one very happy camper here.

Delivery was quick and item was in perfect condition, I already have my eye on some other books that are similar to this and have another in my collection. If you have someone you know that loves all things Dr Who then this is an ideal gift even if it is for yourself lol .
