Great Product! Read the Directions!
I read up on this and bought it for the express purpose of not having to hand dry my cars after washing. Not just to save the effort but to avoid the scratches drying causes.I have to say that this filter absolutely does what it claims. I could hardly believe that it could work but my cars dry without a spot on them, even the glass.I will offer this advice about this filter:READ AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!!It isn't rocket science. Just please take the time to learn how it works and you will be rewarded. Some reviewers have complained of setting the flow rate. Simply time how long it takes to fill a gallon jug. If it is 30 seconds or within a couple of seconds either way you are at 2 GPM. Easy! Then just use that water for your wash bucket, no reason to waste it!Mine came completely assembled except for the inlet hose. I did have to tighten the canister as it leaked slightly from the top the first time it was used. No other issues with the filter.I wondered, as many other reviewers have, how long the filter might last. This was actually very easy to determine. If you go to the manufacturer website there is a chart that answers this question. The filter life is a direct result of how much material it must remove from the water. In my case I went to the website for my city and looked up the water quality reports. This will show the quantity of TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) in the water. Then just compare that number with the chart on the CR website. Find it under the FAQ.In my case the TDS is 150 so the unit I have will process about 259 gallons. I use about 8 gallons to wash my car so that's 30+ washes with no hand drying of the car! Sweet!Since you are already looking at the CR Spotless website make sure to check out the resin recycle program. The resin and cartridge are recyclable. They even ship it for free and provide a return label for the old one all for a very reasonable. So if you are on the fence about a CR Spotless unit I would recommend checking the TDS in your water supply first. If it had been really high in my water I would not have bought a deionizing filter.I am pleased with it. Period.

Works better than I had hoped!
I have not been able to wash my vehicles at my home since I bought the house 15 years ago. The water is terrible and it not only leaves white spots, it leaves white streaks. I finally decided to see if there was something I could purchase specifically to treat the water for car washing purposes. I was hesitant to spend the money for this at first; seemed like it was pricey. But I decided I would chance it based on the reviews. I have not been disappointed! No spots, no streaks, regardless of whether I leave the vehicles to air dry or use a drying cloth. So far I've used for about 5-6 washes and have had no problems - the ppm meter still reads zero. I have a red BMW convertible and a white Toyota 4Runner. I use the water from the system to do the initial rinse and final rinse - following the directions I don't actually put very much water through the system. I will purchase replacement resin so that I have it on hand and while it may be a bit pricey, it's worth it to me. If I had taken the vehicles to the car wash, it would have cost me about $60-$70 for the 5-6 washes. And I now have the convenience of taking my time in my driveway rather than trying to plan when I can bucket wash in a public car wash stall.

Works great on my black car
I needed something to help wash my car at my new place because the water is very hard. I was getting swirl marks after washing the car and because it's a black car, it's very obvious. And for what I paid for the car, I wasn't going to let washing ruin the clearcoat or paint. This system not only reduces the amount of minerals and contaminants in the water, it makes the car shine more than without it. My car was still shiny after a week of being driven. I can honestly say my car has never been as shiny except when I first brought it home. It saves you tons of time too because you no longer have to dry the car as it comes out almost spot free. It's not perfect but it's pretty much close to it. Any minor spots that it leaves can easily be wiped off. And the day I wash it, it was very hot so I probably couldn't rinse the car in time before the soap dried so that could have been a reason why there were some minor spots. I would totally recommend this thing especially if you spent a good deal of money on your car.UPDATE AFTER 1YR+ OF USAGE: So this product probably works well with places with softer water but my location seems to have very hard water. While it works great with fresh beads, it wears out quickly for me. Like after 4 or 5 uses. At $50/bag of replacement beads, that's a bit expensive. So if you have really hard water, you may want to look into some more aggressive filtering products. I haven't tried any other ones yet so I'm not sure which one is best. I am attempting to put some water filters I bought at Lowes in a chain after this product to see if I can get cleaner water. Maybe that will help a bit more for me.
