Cheap, simple, but fully functional, pulse/ox.
Pros: 1. Accurate as any home medical equipment can be - I tested this against my blood pressure cuff, and the doctors pulse oxygen meter, and it was spot on both times. With that said... home medical equipment is never going to be the same quality as the stuff in the hospitals. It is made to give you a basic ballpark as to what your health numbers are. This one is fairly accurate, but don't bet the title to your car on it being 100% correct all the time. Also keep in mind that things like nail polish, skin temperature, fingernail length, etc. can cause false readings. 2. This is a really good price for medical equipment. 3. It is sturdy as hell - my husband feels that he must power spike anything he is holding at any given time. The man breaks metal dishes on a regular basis. Nothing is safe from this one man tornado of destruction. This machine has held up to him using it. I swear to God it should have broken 5 times over by now, but nope... it keeps going just like it was brand new. 4. This is easy to read and use. You literally clamp it on your ginger, and push a button. It auto shuts off when not in use. Please note, this is made for spot usage only, not constant monitoring. Cons: 1. It has no bells or whistles. You aren't connecting it to a health app in your phone. You have to manually enter in the numbers if you want to track them. Would an app be nice? Sure. Am I willing to pay a lot more for app tracking? Nope. My blood pressure machine tracks my pulse, so I am literally only tracking one number. It won't kill me to type that number in. In summary? This little tracker is well worth more than what they charge for it. I ended up buying some more for my family members (we all have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome with the comorbid Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). Don't hesitate to pick this up.

Easily Used And Accurate Pulse Oximeter
The Contec Finger Tip Pulse Oximeter was ordered for use during my exercises, walking, and playing golf. I researched quite a few relatively inexpensive, pulse oximeters, and this unit was mentioned quite a few times in the various reviews I read. It comes with 2 AAA batteries that need to be inserted. Other than that, you squeeze the unit to open the area where the fingered is inserted, insert your finger, press the button, and your pulse & oxygen level is read in the next 4 - 5 seconds. That's it. I compared it to my last reading at my doctor's office, and it came out the same. When I go back to the doctor in the next few days, I will take the unit with me and do a comparison at the same time for both units. Finally, the results are shown in a bright red, LED digital form against a black background, and the unit comes with a lanyard. My only issue, maybe more of a preference than an issue, is that the reading is upside down. The results are pointing away from the eyes, and thus the hand must be inverted and the finger turned back toward the face. But then, maybe a caregiver is the one reading the results and it would be perfect for them. BOTTOM LINE: Based upon the results I've had so far, I would order this product again. It is easy to use, has a good reputation among reviewers, and the price point makes it affordable for almost everyone.

Works Well BUT ONLY IF I PUT MY FINGER IN IT UPSIDE-DOWN!
I initially had significant problems with this unit — inconsistent readings, readings that indicated I was already dead, and no readings at all on some fingers. I was about to return it to Amazon. HOWEVER, on a whim I put my finger in upside-down (i.e., fingernail toward the bottom of the unit rather than toward the top). In that position I get consistent readings, including readings on fingers that could not be read at all in the "upright" position. On closer inspection of the unit I discovered that the two elements, the "Glow and Infrared-Ray Emission Tube" and the "Glow and Infrared-Ray Receipt Tube," are installed opposite from what is shown in the manual. That is, the "Emission Tube" is on the bottom part of my unit and the "Receipt Tube" in on the top, not the other way around as shown in the manual. I suspect it's the result of improper assembly and poor quality control. To check yours, open it and press the button — according to the manual, your fingernail should be toward the tube that flashes, which is on the bottom portion of my unit. With that "fix," I'm very happy with this finger-tip pulse oximeter.

Item does actually work!
I have edited this review, because at first it did not work at all. The problem is that the battery terminals are backwards! The left battery goes in with the plus up, the right one with the plus down, however, the two terminals are identical, so unless you really experiment, you will have the right battery in upside down. It is not easy to get that right battery in that way either. Shipping was quick, and this does work well ,

Pop in the Batteries Supplied & It's Ready to Go
Easy peasy. Dropped in the two AAA batteries as indicated by the + and - markings, pushed the only little button in it, and it was ready to go. It didn't read correctly on my forefinger, though. Had to use my middle finger. Don't know why. I particularly like that it meets international standards for measurement and is FDA approved for measuring oxygenation via fingertip clip. Least expensive one i found that it accuracy rated.
