AWESOME
One person said that one of these books is good fir ages 7-9, but I read it to my 17-year-old friend, and she loved it! This is a book good ages 4+, I read it to my suster when age was 4, she didn't want more to stop reading! I think Ian is so rude and clever, but in the second book, I was a little disappointed at who was the prison escapee. In the third book, I had to wait months before bying the 4th book, and I almost died of curiosity. This book is about a girl genius (Friday Barnes) whose parents are super famous scientists. Friday read every single book in her parents house when she was eight, and when she turned eleven she solved a bank robbery and sent herself to Highcrest Academy , a hotbed of crime. She solves small cases throughout the book such as discovering a stolen calculated, helping her roommate, Melanie help her brother, Binky win a fighting match behind the boys locker room, and helps the Headmaster with his troubles. In the end, she even busts a smuggling ring. Friday is a nerd and was an eccentric green porkpie hat and an ugly brown cardigan and she has hand-eye coordination. I love this book and an always surprised to find out who the criminal is. Spratt, keep them coming! Gabrielle (11)

Interesting Character and Fun Vocabulary
My 8 year old daughter and I loved reading this together! The vocabulary was fun and kept her engaged and started a number of interesting side conversations. She was thrilled to read a story about a strong female character and she loved the balance that Melody (Friday's friend and roommate) brought to the story. We've since read Friday Barnes Under Suspicion and enjoyed that too. My daughter requested that we purchase Girl Detective for her classroom this year so that it is available to her classmates. .I felt like the story was gender neutral and would be enjoyed by everyone. It looks like the book is intended for kids at a 5th grade reading level. If your kids are required to earn AR points this is information I obtained from bookfinder.comAR Quiz No. 180675 EN FictionAccelerated Reader Quiz Information IL: MG - BL: 5.8 - AR Pts: 6.0Accelerated Reader Quiz Type Information AR Quiz Types: RP

Great book to share with kids!
I read this book to my campers at a day camp this summer, and they absolutely loved it. Friday is a kid detective, a clear blend of nosy Nancy Drew and socially inept Sherlock Holmes, and you can't help but love her, be it her confusion in social situations or astounding detective skills that keeps all readers on their toes. There are some terms that may be a little offensive to some more sensetive readers (Friday blatantly calling people "fat" or "stupid"), but over all, it's a great read for kids. They'll be constantly engaged, trying to solve the mystery before Friday does, and the dry humor is sure to elicit laughs from all.

This is one I can recommend to other parents as just good clean fun
My 10 year old daughter, who is an avid reader, absolutely loves this series. I am very careful about her reading diet, always trying to find age appropriate stories for her advanced reading level. This is one I can recommend to other parents as just good clean fun !! :) I am an Aussie so was able to get all 4 while in Australia recently - hopefully they will all be available here soon :) and I think there is a 5th on the way ....

HAPPY GIRL!
I selected this book for my niece. When it was delivered to her, she was so excited. She had been to the library and it was the book she checked out of the library. She stated that now she has her own book!

My 10 Year Old Daughters Review:
Friday Barnes is funny and smart. She solves mysteries and I think it is awesome that the story is about a girl detective!

Excellent author, excellent kid-friendly mysteries
I heard the author speak at an elementary school. Since she was entertaining and I liked the excerpts that she read from 2 of her books, I thought I'd get them for my niece (8yo). My niece LOVES this book and the others written by R.A. Spratt. She couldn't put it down and the material is very age appropriate!

9 year old girl loves it
Bought this as a 9th birthday present. Now she wants to dress as Friday Barnes for World Book Day. I'd say that's a positive review.
