An elegant and subtle camera cover...at a price
I'm not paranoid. I swear. But I've seen too many people make embarrassing and sometimes costly mistakes while thinking nobody was watching them on their webcam, and I want to be sure. Not everything I do in my house is fit for public consumption, ya know? So I've been using a neatly-cut piece of blue painters tape to cover the camera, and it's just ugly. The corner I use to pull it up won't stay down, and it's super-obvious that I have a camera blocker. I don't want that to encourage certain people to start up a conversation about how the government is watching us and using Elon Musk's satellites to control our minds. Nothing wrong with those guy, just not for me. Ya know?So I found this webcam cover on Amazon, saw the price, and thought "this much for a thin piece of metal?" But the reviews were really good, so I grabbed a crowbar, pulled my dusty American Express Aluminum card out, and ordered one.I got it today, and yep. A thin piece of metal with a thin strip of magnet on one side. I could have made one of these in my 9th grade shop class. But it would be big and ugly, and would probably break my screen whenever I closed my Macbook. Sorry, where was I?In fact, it's a perfect accessory. It sticks easily to the integrated magnet at the top of the screen, and holds steadily. It doesn't interfere with the laptop closing, or the magnet holding the Macbook closed. You just use a finger (or toe, if you're into that) to slide the strip of metal sideways to hide or open up your camera. It has an extra hole so that whether the camera is open or covered, it doesn't block the light sensor. It's so nicely done, it feels like something Apple would make themselves if they weren't so pig-headed. [It doesn't matter if the green light shows the camera is on if you aren't looking at the computer at the time, Tim!] Oh, sorry. So yeah, it's pretty expensive for what it is, but it is elegant and works perfectly. Kind of like my Macbook. I guess I'll be getting a second one for my work computer. Definitely don't need a whoopsie there!

Almost great - but a couple of things to note
Product is delivered bent - Two things contributes to this...1. The product packaging is very flimsy.2. When shipped by Amazon it is sent in an envelope that bends. The result is that the product arrives bent/warped. If either the product box or Amazon shipping container were rigid, this would not be an issue. I had to straighten the bends before applying it to the screen. The product is otherwise really good.I also agree with some of the other reviewers that it is difficult to judge the appropriate positioning of the strip so that the webcam is blocked without masking the brightness sensor. There are two versions of this product; one for older Macbook Pros and for the newer ones. Be sure to choose the one that is correct for your CPU. In my case, mine is a 2019 MBP, which corresponds to the one with "no notch". And that is the correct one for my laptop.

Works as Described
Works as described, have been using the sticky cam covers and this magnet version is much better. Takes some effort to get the alignment correct, but once lined up you can forget about it and use normally. Does not, as far as I can tell, interfere with the closing of the kid, and I use a thick screen protector and keyboard protector

STUPIDEST DESIGN - EVER!
Wow. I saw the reviews about how this thing can scratch-up your display, so I spent way too much money on a laptop screen protector (film, not tempered glass), only to find that this moronic product ALSO COVERES THE FREAKING MACOS MENU BAR?!?!WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? THEY WEREN'T (and neiother was I in buyin this junk)!I've tried getting simple adhesive camera covers, but they all are massively fat - good enough only for an iMac. My old laptop has a simple super-thin white one that gently sticks, but stays on and has a little window that you slide only over the camera (see picture) and was given away years ago, for free, at a tradeshow. Why can't anyone seem to sell anything as good -or THIN- since??? All the others advertised on Amazon as "thin" are at least twice as thick as this good 'ol free one. This eyebloc bar seemed good for its thickness, but a bar that you physically slide, and this long? Just like Apple and all of its idiotic ports that need adapters and dongles out the wazoo, this product was OVER-THOUGHT and totally UNDER-delivers.Anyway, back to this waste of money - AVOID THIS JUNK LIKE THE PLAGUE! I am processign a return right after this...
